In which part of the world did the human race begin? The science of genetics supports those who believe that the human race started in Africa and that all people on the earth are descended from people who migrated out of Africa at some time in the past. In fact, at least three branches of the science point to an African origin for the human race. One of these branches is paleontology, the start of fossils. Fossils show that our ancestors appeared in Africa about 100,000 years ago. They also show that humans lived in Africa before they were living anywhere else. Like paleontology, genetics also suggests an African origin for the human race. Africa is the place people moved away from: so it is the place we have all come from. As Mozambican, also we have our own identity such as: national symbols, dances, food, cloths etc.
The name Mozambique is believed to have come from the Swahili Musa al Big, the name of an ancient Arab Sheikh (Chief), who lived on the northern Mozambique island.
As a language, the official language of our country is Portuguese, and Mozambican
