Technical Information No 69
Change to type of ball-bearing for MC3 family of micromotors.

Purpose
All MC3s manufactured since October 2010, i.e. from SN 10J, offer enhanced protection against
impurities and improved hold for ball-bearings. This results in an extended service life.

New MC3s from October 2010

Lifespan From SN10J MC3s are fitted with improved closed ball-bearings. In addition, the
cooling air carrying impurities from, for example, dust from brush wear now passes
entirely via another route specially designed for this purpose.
The rear bearing has also been improved with the replacement of the Teflon
washer with a stainless steel washer, guaranteeing long-term hold under load.

Running-in We now recommend a longer running-in period before the motor is delivered to
the customer. This longer running-in time is necessary to allow an even distribution
of grease inside the closed bearings. At the same time, the brushes are also better
run-in!

Temperature You will notice during the running-in period that the temperature of the MC3
motor may be slightly higher than with other bearings. As a result, the current of
0.4 Amps indicated on IC 751-015/09 may be momentarily exceeded.

MC3 LED The MC3 LED motor is equipped with the new rotor version.

MC3s predating October 2010

Variant 1. MC3s manufactured before SN10J continue to be repaired where possible with the
ball-bearings indicated on the exploded view corresponding to the model. If this is
no longer possible, please switch to the new complete rotor.
Variant 2. Change of complete rotor REF 1501036-001: from (SN10J) October 2010 Bien-Air is
only supplying the version with the new ball-bearings.
Variant 3. Mixed assemblies old motor and new rotor. For each instrument read the SN then
refer to the corresponding exploded diagrams at the time of the next intervention.

on new model rotor, from SN 10J
Positioning The new front and rear ball-bearings have a brown cover on one side. Position the
brown side towards the rear of the motor.
The exploded diagrams concerned indicate for each bearing the position of this
cover, marked "Brown side Æ".
Washer The new rear washer must always be fitted with a stainless steel washer. The set,
REF 1501333-001, includes both.

Fitting old ball-bearings

WARNING: never fit old ball-bearings to the new rotor (from SN 10J or more
recent).
Never fit the Teflon washer 1300086/011.75.24 on new rotors (from SN 10J or more
recent).

Validity: from this date.
