When was it launched?
What is BLM or #BlackLivesMatter was launched by Patrisse Cullors,

Black Lives Matter? Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi in July of 2013, after the
death of Trayvon Martin.

How did it help?


It was created as an online community to help combat
anti-Black racism.

Progress in the last six years.


In the past 6 years, BLM has become a movement and
has grown to 16 chapters across the United States.
They work for a world where Black lives are no longer
systematically targeted for demise.

an African American man murdered by police during an
arrest after a store clerk suspected he may have used a
counterfeit $20 bill in Minneapolis.
