2. Earning Money: Marcus works at an ice cream shop. He earns $10.50 each
hour. Use Marcus’s timesheet for the week to answer the questions.

a. How many hours did Marcus work for the week? (5 points)
3 ¼ + 3 + 4 ½ + 5 ¼ + 2 ¾ = 18.75 hours

b. How much money did Marcus earn for the week? (5 points)
18.75 (10.50) = $196.88

c. Marcus was offered a position which pays a salary of $150 every week
and a 25 cent commission for each ice cream cone he sells. Marcus sells an
average of 128 ice cream cones each week. How much will Marcus make in
the new position? Compare this to how much he made for a week at his
current job. Should he take the new position? Why or why not? (5 points)
Answer: I do not think he should take it because in his current job he earns $196.88 and
in this new job they will give him $150 plus the 25-cent commission per ice cream cone
(he sold 128). The equation will be: 150 + 128(0.25) = $182. He loses $14.88 in this
