The Earth's Global Demise

On a bright, hot, and brilliant Saturday morning in the Meadowbrook neighborhood,

where it all began. It is the Christmas season on December 25, 2022. Although we generally
experience pleasant breezes and temperatures, it appears that today has been among the hottest
days ever registered in the neighborhood. Tyler, a 17-year-old schoolboy, was standing in a
contemporary metal shed behind a two-story orange and brown house while wearing a white lab
coat and goggles. Tyler was a teenager. The shed was put up to look like a lab, which it sort of is
because Tyler uses antique electronics and machines that are broken or no longer in use and
transform it into something useful. Tyler, who is in the lab, could be seen using a shiny wrench
tightening a bolt on a machine and his best friend Dante was standing beside him.
Tyler then started the machine, The machine started quietly as if nothing was happening
when suddenly The lights in the shed started to flicker. The machine started to make a buzzing
sound which started to get louder as each second goes by.
The tension started to intensify as the lights started to flicker on and off faster and faster and the
sound of the machine started to get louder and louder, when all of a sudden, the machine made a
pow sound and the entire shed lost power.
“Tyler, what was that ?” Jasmine, Tyler’s mom, said angrily.
“Nothing”, Tyler and Dante shouted as they look on each other and ran outside the shed towards
the house. 3 seconds later, power was restored and the computer monitor lit back up
[Sweating like hogs], they both came through the white deadbolt kitchen door.
“Hey mom…..” Tyler said who was then immediately interrupted
“Shhh”, Jasmine said while using the remote to turn up the 50” flat screen tv.
“Save yourself, Save your family and most importantly, stay cool” warned the tv reporter, “It
was just reported that at this moment of speaking at 9:36 am , the highest temperature has been
recorded at a high of 667 degrees Celsius and it is estimated that at 12:00 pm midday,
temperatures will reach 1000 degrees Celsius, scientist predicted that at this temperature, no
living organism can survive. Continue to be safe everyone and God Be with you all”
Jasmine then turned off the tv with a sorrowful look on her face.
“It seems like we are all doomed”
“Maybe not, dude, didn’t your machine work ?” Date said sparingly
“I believe so”, Tyler replied
“What Machine ?” Jasmine asked
“A machine that converts harmful greenhouse gases into other safe gases” Dante answered
“So can it save the world” Jasmine asked with a very high expectation
“It can but would require a large amount of energy.”, Tyler said
“Wait, what about the Meadowbrook’s Natural and Applied Experimental Science
Laboratory ?”, Dante answered
“There’s perfect but its too far it is actually a hour drive from here”, Tyler said
“Let’s get going then”, Jasmine said confidently while she took up the keys off the key holder on
the wall.
The time is now 11:27 am and the temperature is now 974 degrees Celsius, they had now
reached the laboratory. They then arrive to the small wooden security post of the laboratory,
where there was a metal gate standing before them. Tyler open the gate and then they quietly
walked past the security post when an alarm went off.
“Stop !! Stop !!”, A security man shouted as he pulls his gun out and started to fire shots
The team then started running and dodging bullets as if they were playing subway surfer
but atlas they had safely reached the entrance of the laboratory. Upon entry, they saw hundred of
scientists, all working on various machines and among them, was Dr Albert Einstein, Tyler’s
science professor. Tyler saw him and then explained why he was here and how his machine
worked. Dr Albert gladly told tyler that he can use his machine here.
Without hesitation, Tyler then pushed the big red button and the machine started. The
scene remained normal but the day felt like it was getting hotter and hotter. It was now 11:59 am,
the machine now reads 995 degrees Celsius, everyone is now awaiting for the temperature to
drop but nothing was working. The temperature continue to increased from 995 to all the way to
999 and as the temperature continued to people’s anxiety also increased. Tyler gazed in space for
a moment but when he returned he noticed that the temperature started to fall. He instantly cried
tears of joy. He then told the others and they too were glad. A few minutes later everyone could
feel the drastic change in temperature as the earth got cooler.
