6. Integration Suggestion
- There were some things that could have been added into the lesson such as a short writing topic
about the career choices or even a classroom discussion about the results each student received.
Feedback from my peers recommended that I even put the students in groups according to their
personality types to chat about their results. This would have been great in an ELA or CTAE
classroom.
7. Inclusion/Diversity/Advocacy
- All students are provided with the same resources necessary to complete the assessment. On the
other hand, I worked with several high functioning autistic students throughout the day. These
students did require more attention as I found that they were more focused than other students

and asked more questions. I found myself assisting one autistic student for over ten minutes
during one lesson.
- Intro: Students were able to participate in this lesson on their Chromebooks and could use their
cellphones if they did not have a laptop. Every student was assisted by me and their teacher to get
on the Naviance homepage. After a brief overview of what the lesson would entail, students could
begin the test.
- Activity: The “Career Interest Profiler” done by the students was a 60 question career inventory.
The students used a service called “NAVIANCE” which is a college and career readiness solution
that gives the students college planning and career assessment tools. The Career Interest Profiler
helps you find careers by mapping your interests to six basic types of personalities, together
called the Holland Code. The higher you score, the more you are like that type.
- Conclusion: As this seems to be a school-wide initiative, perception data is collected after the
completion of the career inventory. Results from the Career Interest Profiler would be used to
enhance their profiles based on the responses recorded.
10. Evaluation
- Cognitive Domain: Students will use the career interest profiler in the process of identifying post-
secondary options and career choices. This provides them with the knowledge of potential career
options and job search skills.
- Affective Domain: Students will build positive attitudes towards the relationship between learning
and work while understanding that the work they do now will impact their future. Personality
summaries provided will hone in on each students strengths, assets, and aptitudes. Success in
school and post-secondary options are linked with academic achievement to influence students to
enhance their outlook on their career and vocational opportunities.
- Psychomotor-Behavioral Domain: Students will use their laptops to access the profiler and take
the exam. Knowledge gained in the cognitive domain will then be actualized and articulated as
they use their results to pick career options that they prefer and talk with peers.

14. Summary
- The freshmen are known to be very rowdy so I had doubts about how I could manage their
classes. In some periods, the students were louder than others. I believe that due to the use of
technology, some students felt the need to get off task very often. The students were very quiet
while taking the exam and I could tell that some of them did not enjoy taking it. Over the course
of the day, I helped a couple of students that were really into it and were discussing the careers
with their friends. There would be many adjustments I would make if I were to do this lesson
again to keep the students busy such as adding in a writing component or a classroom discussion
to keep them engaged.
