ICT ACTIVITY: WEEK 10

FLORES, RHENZEL C.

efore we continue, do you still remember keyboard shortcut keys used in Microsoft
Word? Let’s see if you can recall all common shortcut keys that can also be used in
Excel. Answer the items in th Be box below.
1. What is the shortcut key for saving the document?

Answer: Ctrl+S

2. What is the shortcut key for opening an existing document?

Answer: Ctrl+O

3. What is the shortcut key for copying selected text or objects?

What are the shortcut the shortcut key for pasting c

Answer: Ctrl+C

4. What is the shortcut key for undoing last action/command performed?

Answer: Ctrl+Z

5. What is the shortcut key for saving the file with a new or name or new location?

Answer: Ctrl+S
Using the Screen Tip tool that we discussed from our previous topic — Microsoft
Word. Locate and describe the functions of each tool below that can be found in
Microsoft Excel.

ICON NAME FUNCTION

Merge cells Used to merge two or more different cells.

Highlight Use the highlight tool to mark different

parts of a document.

Top alignment. Aligns the top of the

Top alignment element and its descendants with the top
of the entire line.

Middle alignment. Aligns the middle of the

Middle alignment element with the baseline plus half the x-
height of the parent.

Bottom Align aligns the contents to the

Bottom alignment bottom of the cell

Wrap text displaying the cell contents on multiple

lines, rather than one long line. This will
allow you to avoid the "truncated column"
effect, make the text easier to read and
better fit for printing.

Clustered column It is a type of graph used to compare data

sets. They are perfect for visualizing data
that is grouped into categories. Clustered
column charts are often used to compare
sales figures or other data that change
over time.

Math and It performs many of the common

trigonometry mathematical calculations, including basic
arithmetic, conditional sums & products,
exponents & logarithms, and trigonometric
ratios.
copy allows you to copy selected text from the
document and temporarily place it on the
clipboard.

Bottom borders The bottom border property allows you to

control the width, style, and color of the
bottom border of a box.

In this activity, I want you to explore and test other commonly used functions located
in the Function Library. Describe each function.

FUNCTION NAME DESCRIPTION

used to calculate the arithmetic meaning of a given set of

=AVERAGE() arguments in Excel. This guide will show you, step-by-step, how to
calculate the average in Excel.
used to calculate the product or multiplication of the given
=PRODUCT() number provided to this function as arguments.

is used for mathematical formulation and returns the integer

=QUOTIENT() value with a division of numerator and denominator.

The count function counts the number of cells that contain

=COUNT() numbers and counts numbers within the list of arguments.

Returns the smallest number in a set of values.

=MIN()

Returns the largest value in a set of values.

=MAX()

The counta function counts cells containing any type of

information, including error values and empty text ("").
=COUNTA()
You can explore and test other functions besides the ones listed on the previous
page. Now that you have familiarized yourself with some of the functions, let us
check your understanding. Answer the following questions below:

1. What formula would you enter to add values in cells C1, C2, and C3?
=C1+C2+C3=SUM(C1:C3)
2. Follow up question for number 1: What function would you enter to achieve
the same result?

SUM____________________________________________________________________

3. What formula would you enter to count how many numeric values are in the
range D21:D72?

______=COUNT(D21:D72)________________________________________ 4. What function

would you enter to multiply values in cells A1, A2, and A3?

=PRODUCT(A1,A3,C1:C3)_____________________________________________________________

_______________ 5. What function would you enter to divide values in cells A1 and A2?

_=SUM(A1+A2)___________________________________________________________________________
