LESSON DEVELOPMENT
Teacher asks pupils if any of them have pet cats and what do cats do. Pupils share their
PRE LESSON answers.

1. Pupils refer to the ‘Cats’ poem in the Anthology of Poems textbook in page 15. Pupils
are divided into 4 groups where they are assigned to a stanza.
2. In their groups, pupils practise reciting the stanza with the gestures involved.
3. Each group is called to recite their stanza by doing the appropriate gestures if
necessary.
ACTIVITIES 4. Teacher asks pupils whether they like/dislike the poem and the reason/s.
5. Based on the ‘Cats’ poem, explain to pupils that they are going to write their own
poem about another animal of choice.
6. Pupils write their poem (M). Pupils are guided with the poem template (L).
7. Pupils recite their poem in groups or individually. Pupils write down the topic of their
friends’ poem (at least 5 pupils) and two actions related to the animal from the poem.
Pupils recite and display their poem.
