6. Move breaker to desired location.

To lower the breaker perform the following:

1. Find flat clear location for breaker.

2. Engage wheel lock.
3. After ensuring that there is nothing under the breaker, slowly
turn lowering valve counter clockwise towards open position –
breaker should start to lower.
4. Disengage lifting hook.

Section 3. Circuit breaker insertion and
removal using the lift pan
For insertion and removal of VCPW-HD circuit breaker into medium
voltage switchgear using a breaker lift pan in conjunction with a
breaker lifting device, reference the following instructions.
A. Insertion:

1. Follow steps outlined in Section 2, A-1 to lift the breaker from

its shipping pallet using breaker lifting device and breaker lifting
yoke. At this time, the circuit breaker is hanging on the lifting
device hook (Figure 8).
2. Lower the breaker to the floor and roll it as close to the switch-
gear as possible. Next bring the lift pan over to the breaker and
position the lift pan so that the open side of the lift pan is facing
the front of the breaker.
3. Push the breaker onto the lift pan until the breaker front panel
is resting against the two rubber stops (Figure 9) on the lift pan.
As the breaker is being pushed towards the rubber stops, the
breaker shoot bolt handle interlock on the lift pan will engage
the breaker right side shoot bolt handle (Figure 10) to keep the
breaker from rolling off the lift pan.

 WARNING
FAILURE TO ENGAGE THE BREAKER SHOOT BOLT HANDLE INTERLOCK
ENTIRELY MAY LEAD TO MOVEMENT OF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER WITHIN
THE LIFT PAN. THIS CAN RESULT IN DEATH, SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY,
OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.

4. Engage the lift pan hooks (Figure 11) to the lifting device's hori-
zontal lifting bar (Figure 12) by lowering the lift, pushing the lifting
device slightly forward, and then raising the lift. When properly
engaged, the lift pan can be raised/lowered to raise/lower the
breaker.

switchgear surface directly in front of the switchgear breaker cell as
shown in Figure 14.
