PREPARATIONS FOR SUPER TYPHOON “MAWAR” (INTERNATIONAL NAME
OUTSIDE PAR)
To: School Division Superintendents

All Others Concerned
1, The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services
Administration (PAGASA) in Tropical Storm Advisory No. 2A issued at 5:00 AM, May
25, 3:00 AM, forecasted that the location of Super Typhoon “MAWAR’ is at 2,130 km.
East of Southeastern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the
center and gustiness of up to 230 km/h and moving West northwestward at 15 km/h.
2. The current track scenario shows that the rain bands of the typhoon may bring
heavy rains over Cagayan Valley between Sunday and Tuesday next week. A strong
to gale-force conditions may be experienced in most areas of the region which result
in the hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal in the coming days.
3. _ In view of this, all DepEd Offices and schools are hereby advised to undertake
preparedness actions such as but not limited to the following:
a, Monitor closely the warning and other advisories issued by DOST-PAGASA,
DENR-MGB, and other surveillance agencies,
b. Continuous monitoring of areas highly susceptible to flooding and
landslides.
c. Strengthen the stability of structures (e.g., anchoring by guy wire) so that
it can withstand heavy rains and strong winds.
d. Store textbooks, teaching manuals, official records, and equipment in a safe
place.
Conduct tree pruning and cleaning of drainage system and waterways.
Switch-off and unplug all electrical fixtures and appliances. ‘
Secure all important office items and documents.
Observe strictly the DepEd policy on suspension of classes or invoke school-
based decisions in coordination with the local government units (LGUs}
Involve learners, their parents, and their communities in raising awareness
on disaster preparedness.

Assessment of Damages Report (RADAR) app in their computer or phone to ensure
that the effects of the typhoon shall be reported in the RADaR System.
5. The Regional and Division DRRM Coordinators are directed to monitor and
provide technical assistance to the schools in their disaster preparedness activities.
6. Widest dissemination of and compliance with this Memorandum is enjoined.
