CAD Activity Module 2 Exercise

Objectives:
• Design an A-4 sized layout with a single viewport.
• Create and set states of layers.
• Apply OFFSET, CHAMFER and FILLET to copy shape, and modify corners
respectively.

For this exercise, the following data is given:

Corner X(meters) Y (meters)

A 10,000.00 10,000.00
B 10,000.00 10,015.00
C 10,010.00 10,015.00
D 10,015.00 10,000.00

A. Drawing the corners

1. Draw the corners specified in the table above as point objects using the POINT
COMMAND. (4)
2. To change visual appearance of the points, issue the PTYPE (Point Style)
command so you can easily see the points. See AutoCAD help for details of the
command. (5)
3. Place these corners in the CORNERS layer, and once verified for correctness, lock
the layer. (3)

B. Drawing Lot Boundary

Create the lot boundary as follows:
1. Connect with line segments the corners in the order as listed in the table above. (5)
2. Create a layer named LOT and place said boundary in that layer. (5)

C. Reshaping the Lot

Reshape the lot boundary as follows:
1. Create two new corners located near corner B such that:
1.1. There is a new angled corner starting from a point 3 meters south of corner
B, and ending at a point 2 meters to the east of corner B. (5)
1.2. Draw points at these two new corners and placed them in the
CORNERS_NEW layer. (3)
2. At the northeast corner of the lot, add two more new corners as follows:
2.1. Make the corner rounded producing the new corners. The radius of the arc
is 3 meters. (5)
2.2. Draw point at these new corners and place them also in the
CORNERS_NEW layer. (2)

D. Relabeling the Corners
1. Place labels, using single-line text objects, at every lot corner. (12)
2. Relabel all corners starting from the new corner B, clockwise. (5)
3. Place all the corner labels in the LABELS layers. (3)

D. Drawing Adjacent Road

Draw an adjacent road described as follows:
1. It starts 5 meters east of corner D. (3)
2. It follows the shape of lot from corner D back to A. Make the width equal to 4
meters. (6)
3. At corner A, it goes west by 5 meters. (3)
4. There is a 1-meter wide sidewalk between the lot and road. (5)
5. At the east end of the road, place an arrow (use polyline) pointing east and the
label “To Manila”. (5)
6. At the west end, place an arrow pointing west and the label “To LAGUNA”. (5)

E. Drawing the Shoreline

Draw the shoreline described as follows:
1. It is located 3 meters away from the edge of the road that is farther from
the lot. (2)
2. Using the appropriate drawing object, offset the shoreline 4 times with
(line) widths decreasing going away from the shore. The widths will be chosen so
that it would look similar to the figure shown right. (10)
3. Place the label “LAGUNA LAKE” on the water body approximately following
the shoreline shape. Make the text height 1.5 times larger that of corner labels. (7)

F. Preparing the Layout

Switch to an existing and modify it as follows:
1. Make it an A4-sized layout (choose the ‘full-bleed’ type). (2)
2. Add page borders half an inch from all edges of the paper. (8)
3. At the bottom, add a title block with a height of 0.5 inch. The title block that will
show the title as “VACATION HOUSE SITE”, who and when it is prepared, each
as a two-liner text objects. For example, for the person who prepared it, the text
would be: “Prep by:” on the fist line and “Your name” on the second line. Do

similarly for the preparation date. There should be line dividers between the text.
(8)
4. Enlarge the single viewport so that it fills as much as possible the area inside the
page borders. (4)
5. Modify the view in the viewport so that it shows the entire lot, the adjacent road,
shoreline, and pertinent labels. (4)
6. Place the viewport in its own layer named VPORT, and set it to non-plottable
state. (5)
7. Change the heights of the text in the lot drawing so that they are readable when
the layout is plotted. (2)
8. Finally, turn off the CORNERS and CORNERS_NEW layers. (2)

When done, submit the AutoCAD drawing file in UVLe with the name ES1CAD2-<Last
Name><First Name Initial>, e.g., ES1CAD2-CruzT.dwg. (2)
