BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

Mr Wong Kwok Pun joined the Singapore Foreign Service in 1975. His last post
was as Singapore's Ambassador to Qatar from March 2013 to August 2016. Prior to
that, he served as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from August 2009
to February 2013, with concurrent accreditation to the Kingdom of Bahrain from
January 2010 to February 2013. He served as Ambassador to Egypt from June 2006
to June 2009, and Non-Resident Ambassador to Qatar (February 2006 – June 2009)
and Kuwait (June 2007 – June 2009). He served as High Commissioner to India
from 1999 to 2002, with concurrent accreditation to Nepal, and as Ambassador to
Thailand from 1995 to 1998, with concurrent accreditation to Laos. Mr Wong has
also served in Singapore’s embassies in Washington, Manila and Tokyo.

In Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, Mr Wong served as Director/ASEAN


from 1993 to 1994, as Director/Policy, Planning and Analysis Directorate IV from
2002 to 2005 (covering South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America), and
as Director (Special Duties) from 2005 to 2006.

Mr Wong graduated from the University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Social


Science degree (Honours) in 1971 and received his Master of International Public
Policy degree from Johns Hopkins University, USA in 1982.

Mr Wong was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 1986, the Long
Service Medal in 1998 and the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2010.

Mr Wong is married to Ms Shirley Sim and they have three children.
