*Essay Writing

• Registration fee of ₱10.00 per contestant


• The contest is open to all, but with at least one participant per grade level
• Written below are the mechanics of the contest:
▪ Each participant will bring their own pen, while the club will
provide them an official paper to write on
▪ The participants are given an hour to finish their output
▪ The participants are not allowed to bring anything with them except
their pen
▪ Medium to be used will be English
▪ The essay must be 300 words – 500 words with the theme …….
▪ Failure to comply any of the said mechanics will result to the
disqualification of the participant
• The criteria for judging are as follow:
Content 35%
Relevance to the topic 20%
Organization of ideas 20%
Grammar 20%
Neatness 5%

▪ The source of the words that will be used for the contest will be from
Webster's Universal English Dictionary.
▪ The club will provide them their own chalk and a piece of cardboard
▪ Each participant are not allowed to bring anything with them
▪ The participants are given 15 seconds for the Easy round with 10
words, 30 seconds for the Moderate round with 10 words, 1 minute
for the Difficult round with 5 words, and 30 seconds for the Clincher
round with 5 words
▪ When the time is up, each participant is to raise their tagboard.
Failure to raise their tagboard after the time is up will result to the
disqualification of the answer of the participant for that word
▪ Failure to comply any of the above mechanics will result to the
disqualification of the participant
• The point system for the contest is as follows:
▪ Easy Round — 1 point per correct answer
▪ Moderate Round — 3 points per correct answer
▪ Difficult Round — 5 points per correct answer
▪ Clincher Round.— 1 point per correct answer
• The participant with the highest accumulated score wins

• Registration fee of ₱10.00 per contestant


• Written below are the mechanics of the contest:
▪ Each grade level must have three participants
▪ The club will provide for them their own chalk and a piece of
cardboard
▪ Each team must not bring anything with them except their chalk and
cardboard
▪ Each team will be given two stories to read for 15 – 20 minutes
▪ Comprehension from a given story will be asked
▪ A quizmaster will ask three rounds with five questions on
comprehension per round with the following categories: Easy,
Average, and Difficult
▪ In case of a tie, there will be a Clincher round
▪ The teams are given 15 seconds for the Easy round, 30 seconds for
the Average round, 1 minute for both the Difficult round and the
Clincher round
▪ When the time is up, each team is to raise their tagboard. Failure to
raise their tagboard after the time is up will result to the
disqualification of the answer of the team for that question
▪ Failure to comply any of the above mechanics will result to the
disqualification of the team
• The point system for the contest is as follows:
▪ Easy Round — 1 point per correct answer
▪ Average Round — 3 points per correct answer
▪ Difficult Round — 5 points per correct answer
▪ Clincher Round.— 1 point per correct answer
