You Don’t Belong Here

By Chaidir

It can feel really sad and confusing when we're not included in a group of friends. In this essay, we
will try to understand why this happens. By exploring some of the reasons why we might be left out, we can
start to make sense of it and maybe even find ways to improve our relationships with others.
Sometimes, people have different interests and personalities, which can make it hard to fit into a
specific group. We all have our own unique likes and dislikes, and that's okay. It's natural for us to want to
spend time with people who share similar hobbies or have similar ways of thinking. It doesn't mean there's
anything wrong with us; it's just that we might connect better with different people.
Groups have their own rules and ways of doing things. They might have certain expectations for who
can be part of the group and who can't. These rules can be influenced by what society thinks is normal or cool.
It's important to remember that these rules aren't always fair or inclusive. Understanding that group dynamics
can exclude people can help us question those rules and maybe even change them for the better.
Unfair judgments based on things like our appearance, background, or how much money we have can
also lead to exclusion. People might have certain ideas about us before even getting to know us. It's important
to challenge these stereotypes and show others that we're more than just labels. By promoting acceptance and
understanding, we can create a more inclusive world.
Sometimes, we might be left out because of misunderstandings or problems with how we
communicate. It can be hard to express ourselves clearly or understand what others are trying to say. This can
lead to conflicts or awkward situations that make people distance themselves from us. By learning how to
communicate better and listening to others, we can improve our chances of being included.
Feeling excluded is a tough experience, but understanding why it happens can make it easier to
navigate. Remember, it's not about our worth as individuals, but rather about finding the right people who
appreciate us. By being open-minded, improving our communication skills, challenging stereotypes, and
growing in empathy, we can create a more inclusive and supportive world where everyone feels valued and
included.
