By September, the virus was still impacting their education and daily lives, leaving the student feeling like their life was moving at lightning speed but unable to live normally until the pandemic finally ends.

    “The Unexpected Lockdown” 

    Free Verse 
    Domenic DiTomaso 
     
    I walked through the school hallways, 
    I see my friends, I see teachers, I see other students 
    I go from class to class learning new things 
    I do worksheets, I watch videos, I redo tests and quizzes  
    I was as busy as a bee 
    It was like this everyday until March 13 
    A breakout of a vicious virus that we didn’t know was 
    dangerous 
    When we heard the beep of the intercom 
    And Mr. Sulc made the announcement 
    We leave school for what we thought was only a few 
    weeks 
    We start to do classes online 
    We have our schedules all messed up 
    We‘re confused, we have questions, but we’re too afraid 
    to ask 
    We end online school and go into the summer 
    We come back in September to see that it’s worse 
    We’re still doing this work, these tests, watching these 
    videos  
    Learning lots of new things everyday  
    Going into high school in September  
    Our lives feel like they’re moving at the speed of light 
    Since this virus has started we can’t live our lives  
    When will this end?
