Probe Gamma Gun Scintillation 170
Probe Gamma Gun Scintillation 170
This Gamma Gun - Scintillation type tool utilizes a ruggedized thallium doped sodium iodide [NaI (Tl) crystal] (3/4
in. x 4 in. diameter) detector with a 1in. x 3 in. diameter photomultiplier tube (PMT), shock mounted inside the tool
housing to provide maximum survivability in a perforating environment.
The shock mounted, dual magnet center coil CCL provides maximum sensitivity through 7-inch diameter casing. Gamma ray — CCL data is
available to surface with any NIMS system or computer logging system capable of processing standard pulse data.
Internal circuitry enables operation of gamma ray CCL with positive voltage and negative shooting voltage. The dual fire system allows for
shooting on both + or - DC, while maintaining the maximum safety possible. The gun detonator is held shorted to ground until a preset line
voltage is reached. The detonator then is open-circuited until a second preset voltage is reached, where firing voltage is then switched to the
gun. This feature is important for select fire or multiple gun firing with one trip into the well bore.
