1.0 SCOPE
1.0 SCOPE
1.1 This specification prescribes the minimum requirements for Pumps for HVAC Service.
Compliance to Process Industry Practices-Machinery PIP RESP 003H specification for Horizontal
Centrifugal Pumps for Water Service is required as modified by this specification.
1.2 Paragraph references shown in sections 1 through 6 in this specification correspond directly to
paragraphs in PIP RESP 003H and each denotes a change and is prefixed by: Modify to Read
(Mod) which introduces a requirement that modifies a requirement in PIP RESP 003H. Addition
(Add) inserts requirements that are in addition to the requirements in PIP RESP 003H. Deletion
(Del) which deletes the requirement of PIP RESP 003H.
1.3 This specification supplements the datasheets on which the operating conditions and special
requirements are listed in detail for each individual pump. Whenever the data included on the
individual datasheets conflict with this specification, Supplier shall resolve conflicts with
Purchaser.
1.4 Compliance with this specification does not relieve Pump Supplier of the responsibility of
furnishing pumps and accessories of proper design, mechanically suited to meet operating
guarantees at the specified service conditions. Nor does it relieve Pump Supplier of the
responsibility of furnishing equipment assembled and prepared for shipment in a professional
manner.
1.5 Vendors qualified by experience manufacturing the proposed units shall supply pumps. To
qualify, the Vendor shall have manufactured at least two (2) pumps of comparable size, model,
power rating, and speed in similar service as indicated in the individual specification and data
sheets. These pumps shall have completed at least 8000 hours of continuous operation
satisfactorily.
1.6.1 Vendor’s quotation shall conform to this Specification and any addenda. At the Vendor’s
option, an alternate quotation may be offered if the following two conditions are met:
1.6.1.2 Alternate quotation shall indicate deviations from the requirements in this
Specification. Complete details of deviations shall be submitted to Purchaser for
review.
1.6.2 If Vendor’s quotation indicates no deviations from the requirements in this Specification,
the Purchaser shall assume that the pump quoted complies fully with this Specification.
Deviation to the dimensional standards shall be noted in the Vendor’s proposal and must
be noted on supporting dimension drawings.
1.7 The pumps supplied to this standard shall have U.S. dimensions and comply with comparable U.S.
standards. UNITED approval is required for pumps supplied with ISO dimensions and ISO
standards.
1.8 The Vendor shall assume unit responsibility for all equipment and all auxiliary systems included
in the scope of the order.

BASIC DESIGN
Solid Hubs on impellers are required. An impeller made from a cored hub requires consent of UNITED.
4.7.5 Comment (Sub) Services will include fresh water, condensate, and cooling (chilled) water; not to exceed
80°C. The seal application expected is a BSTFN seal code, API 682 type is 682 NC
(non-conforming to API 682) with an API Seal Flush plan 11 or 31 with a secondary API
Seal Flush plan 61. The pump will have a fixed throat bushing and the seal plate (gland)
shall have a standard throttle bushing.

INSPECTION, TESTING AND PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT
6.3.1.2 (Mod) - The Vendor shall notify the Purchaser a minimum of 10 working days before
the date the equipment will be ready for testing.

7.2.1.1c Drawings and data as specified on form E212 of the inquiry package are required as
minimum.
