Quarter: 2nd
DLP No.: Learning Area: Math 11 Grade Level: 11 Qua
Duration: 1 Hour
Finds the future value and present value of both simple
Learning Competency: Code: M11GM-llc-d1
annuities and general annuities.
Identify the formula in finding the Future Value of Annual, quarter and monthly
Knowledge
OBJECTIVES

annuity.
LEARNING

Illustrate how the Future Value formulas is use. Find the Future Value using the
Skills
Formulas.
Attitude: Reflect on the importance of knowing the future value

CONTENT: Find the Future value of simple annuities (annually, quarterly and monthly).
Reference: General Mathematics Teacher’s Guide
LEARNING RESOURCES: Learning Materials:
General Mathematics Learner’s Material Pg. 168-182
 The class will start with daily classroom routines (prayer, checking of
attendance).
 Motivation “what you sow, is what you reap.”
Post different pictures of seedlings, grown trees and fruits.
Introductory Then let some students to match the seedlings, the grown trees, and the
Activity: (10mins.) fruits on the board.
(Insert pictures to be use)

 Review about simple annuity

The teacher will correct student’s answers and explain/ review about simple annuity.
Analysis: (5 mins.)
Definition of terms:
❖ Annuity- a sequence of payments made at equal(fixed) intervals or
periods of time.
❖ Simple annuity- an annuity where the payment interval is the same
as the interest period.

Formula:
PROCEDURES

n = mt

Where, R - is the amount of regular or periodic payment

F- is the sum of future values of all the payments to be made during the entire
term of the annuity.
t- is the time of annuity or the time between the first payment interval and the
Abstraction: last payment interval.
( 10mins.) i- is the interest rate per period
r- is the nominal rate
n- is the number of payments
m- is the frequency of conversion

Example 1:

variables Given values

F ?

R ₱3000 (per month)

r 9% (compounded monthly)

m 12
n ?

i ?

t 6 months

Solution:

Step 1. Find the number of payments(n)

n= mt

n= 12(1/2)= 6

Step 2. Find the interest rate per period

i= r/m

i=0.09/12

i= 0.0075

Step 3. Solve for the future value

F= 3000 (1+0.0075)6- 1
0.0075
F= ₱18,340.89

Example 2:

variable Given values

F ?

R ₱200 (given quarterly)

r 0.25% (compounded quarterly)

m 4

n ?

i ?

t 6 years

Solution:

Step 1. Find the number of payments(n)

Application: Find the FV (Future Value) at the end of the last payment period. Payments of $1000 each are
( 10mins.) made at the beginning of each year for 3 years with interest at 5% compounded annually.
Directions: Find the Future Value of the Following. Show the step by step process.
A. R = 500 (Deposited monthly), r = 10% (compounded monthly), t=10 years
1. What are the unknown?
2. What are the formulas needed?
3. What to do?
4. What is the final answer?
B. R = 1000 (Deposited quarterly), r = 1% (compounded quarterly), t=5 years
1. What are the unknown?
Assessment: 2. What are the formulas needed?
( 15mins.) 3. What to do?
4. What is the final answer?
C. R = 500 (Deposited annually), r = 5% (compounded annually), t=20 years
1. What are the unknown?
2. What are the formulas needed?
3. What to do?
4. What is the final answer?

1.) Laura wants to accumulate $150,000 in her bank account by depositing $1000 at the
Assignment: beginning of each month. If interest on the account is 5% compounded quarterly, for how
( 3mins.) long does Laura have to deposit the money?

Concluding
Activity: ( 2mins.)
Prayer
REMARKS:
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation.
REFLECTION:

B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation.

C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught up with the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation.
E. Which of my learning strategies worked well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share with other teachers?
