Configure worksets and initiate worksharing

1. Open the exercise file worksharing.rvt.

2. In the Collaborate tab, Manage
Collaboration panel, click Collaborate.

3. In the Collaborate dialog, select Within


Your Network and then click OK.

4. Click Save on the Quick Access Toolbar.
Then, in the Save File as Central Model
dialog, click Yes. This creates the
central model.

5. Next, close the central model by


clicking the File tab > Close. Then on
the Home page, under MODELS, click
Open.

6. In the Open dialog, select
worksharing.rvt and then look at the
Worksharing options. Make sure Create
New Local is selected and then click
Open.

7. In the Collaborate tab, Manage


Collaboration panel, click Worksets.

8. In the Worksets dialog, click New. Then
create a new workset named Core and
Shell and click OK.

9. Create another workset named


Interiors and then click OK to close
each dialog.

10. In the Collaborate tab, Manage
Collaboration panel, expand the
Synchronize with Central split button
and click Synchronize and Modify
Settings.

11. In the Synchronize with Central dialog,


select User-created Worksets to
relinquish ownership of the previously
created worksets. Then click OK to
synchronize the local copy with the
central model.

12. Open the Level 1 floor plan view and
select the exterior walls. Then, in the
Properties palette, change the Workset
to Core and Shell.

13. In the View Control Bar, click


Worksharing Display and then select
Worksets. Take a look at the color
coding in the drawing area. Adjust the
Workset of walls as needed so that
they are in the appropriate workset.
