Practice exercise: Configure phasing

In this exercise, you will create views specific to
the phase status of elements. You will also
adjust the phase status of model elements and
control the phase filter of the views.

1. Open the exercise file phasing.rvt.

2. In the Project Browser, right-click the
Level 1 view and select Rename in the
shortcut menu. Then rename the view
Level 1 – Existing.

3. In the Project Browser, right-click the

Level 1 – Existing view and select
Duplicate View > Duplicate.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the
following views are created by
duplicating the Level 1 – Existing view:
a. Level 1 – Demo
b. Level 1 – Existing
c. Level 1 - New

5. In the Level 1 – Existing view, select all

the model elements in the drawing
area. Then, in the Properties palette,
change the Phase Created to Existing.

6. In the Level 1 – Existing view, in the
Properties palette, change the Phase to
Existing.

7. In the Level 1 – Demo view, select the

interior wall. Change the Phase
Demolished parameter to New
Construction so that the wall becomes
a demolished wall in the New
Construction phase.

8. In the Level 1 – New view, activate the
Wall tool and create a vertical wall in
the center of the basic building.

9. In the Level 1 – New view, change the

Phase Filter in the Properties palette to
Show Previous + New.

10. In the Level 1 – Demo view, change the
Phase Filter in the Properties palette to
Show Previous + Demo.
