The Story of Zacchaeus

Profile:
1. Chief Tax Collector
2. Wealthy
3. Professional
4. Respected
5. Sinner in the eyes of men
6. Feared by men
7. In one wave of hand can send somebody to jail

Work of a Chief Tax Collector:

o Under the Roman Senate, a middle-man tasked to collect taxes

o Instructed by their bosses to charge people with bigger taxes
o Overcharging on taxes but mostly untrue

The possible things that happened before he came to know Jesus:

 Jesus opened the eyes of a blind man
 Jesus raised the ruler's daughter from the dead
 Jesus raised the widow's son from the dead

Points to Consider in the Story of Zacchaeus:

I. Zacchaeus went to where Jesus was but his limitations kept him from
seeing Jesus.
II. Zacchaeus realized that he needed to see Jesus if he hoped to be
different, so he made the extra effort to climb a tree.
III. Jesus saw his effort and stopped.
IV. Zacchaeus gladly welcomed Jesus and salvation came to him.

Jesus wants to reveal to you very important truths today and for the rest of
this Divine Encounter.

What do you want?

But, wait...

 God knows you a lot better than how much you know him.

 God is not satisfied seeing you badly broken or your life in disarray.

 God is hard pressed seeing you fixing your own life by your own strength.

Desire to encounter and experience God in your life.

The Lord already gave the tree but the running, climbing the tree, and the seeking of
God is yours to do!
