Medicine Entry Requirements

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE
(IB) DIPLOMA
All requirements are correct as of September 2022 but may be subject to minor change and the approval of the Higher
Education Council of Bahrain.

5 Year Programme
DIRECT ENTRY
Required Subjects You need to study six subjects in total. Three Standard Level subjects (SL) and Three
Higher Level (HL) subjects. Subjects must include English, Mathematics (all types are accepted). Higher
Level subjects must include Two of the following; Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (all types are
accepted). However, IF Mathematics is presented at Higher Level, another science subject (as shown above)
must be presented at Standard Level (SL).
Minimum Grade You need a minimum score of 35 IB Diploma points (inclusive of bonus points).
English language requirements Minimum score 5 in SL or HL (IB) English or an IELTS Academic minimum
of 6.5 overall (minimum 6.0 in any band) or TOEFL equivalent.

6 Year Programme
FOUNDATION YEAR
Required Subjects You need to study six subjects in total. Three Standard Level subjects (SL) and three
Higher Level (HL) subjects. Subjects must include English, Mathematics (all types are accepted) and at least
one laboratory science subject (Biology, Chemistry and Physics).
Minimum Grade You need a minimum score of 30 IB Diploma points (inclusive of bonus points).
English language requirements Minimum score 5 in SL or HL (IB) English or an IELTS Academic minimum
of 6.0 overall (minimum 5.0 in any band) or TOEFL equivalent.

MEDICAL COMMENCEMENT PROGRAMME (MCP)


If you do not meet the 6 year programme minimum requirements for IB, you may be considered for entry to the
MCP by the Admissions Committee on a case-by-case basis.
English language requirements Minimum score 5 in SL or HL (IB) English or an IELTS Academic minimum of
5.0 overall (minimum 4.5 in any band) or TOEFL equivalent.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Secondary School Transcripts/ Certificates (Grade 9, 10, 11 & 12)
University Transcripts/Certificates (if applicable)
Certificate of English language proficiency, i.e. IELTS Academic or TOEFL certificate (or test booking
confirmation)
Academic Reference Form to be completed, signed and stamped by the school or University/other references
with predicted grades if applicable. (found on our website)
A letter of good conduct (applicable to applicants completing High School in Bahrain)
Personal statement of between 500 and 1000 words
Scanned copy of passport, including photo page
Scanned copy of CPR/GCC or other National Identity Card (if applicable)
Passport-style photograph

All Students must have completed a minimum of 12 years of schooling by the end of Secondary School Education.
