Language Functions
AIMS At the end of the lesson, students will learn phrases, to greet other
people, introduce themselves and say goodbye.

Warm up Teacher has student form a circle and Time:5 min
pass the ball, have each student pass the Vocabulary
PRESENTATION ball, hold the ball and say their names. If Speaking
a student doesn’t pass make sure sh/he
does it again until done properly
Presentation The teacher stands in front of the class Time: 5 min
and says Hi, all the students have to see Vocabulary
that the teacher is greeting to everybody. Speaking
Asks the class to respond the
greeting.Repeat the procedure with
Hello, greet everybody alterning Hi/Hello.
Activity 1 Give each student a piece of paper, ask Time: 10 min
PRACTICE each student to draw a flower and write Speaking
their names on it, make a poster with
their names
Activity Introduce glove puppet- greetings and Time: 10 min
introduction activities. Speaking
Activity 2 Sing the AB song Time:5 min
Start this section of the lesson with the Vocabulary
ABC song to indicate it”s Alphabet time.
Have the letters of the Alphabet struck
around the wall.
Activity 3 Teacher introduces letters. Start with Time:5 min
lowercase letters and once mastered Writing 1hr
your students can move to the
uppercase. Use falshcards and the board.
Pass each student to practice.
BREAK Time: 20 min 1hr
Activity 5 Do a letter practice writing. Teacher has each Time:10 min
student pass the board and practice writing the Writing 1hr
letters and words that begin with that letters.
Activity 6 Listen and trace the names. Time:10 min
The teacher asks students to see the Writing
ilustrations. Ask how many children are there Listening
and where are they?
Teacher plays the audio and asks the students
to do the activity when they have finished, read
the dailogs aloud. After that ask some
comprehension questions.
Activity 7 Trace the words. Time: 10 min
Teacher asks the students to join the words in Writing
their books. Write the words on the board and
ask to two volunteers to go in front to join
them.
Activity 8 Match the words Time: 10 min 2hr
Ask the students to join the words in their Vocabulary
books. Write the words on the boards and ask
to two volunteers to go in front to join them.
Activity 9 Listen and repeat Time: 5 min
Reproduce the record and after the first word Listening
Hello! Instruct the students that they have to Speaking
repeat all together. Repeat the procedure with 2hr
other words. Play the recording. But this time
after the words make pauses and ask some
students to repeat individually.
Activity 10 Write on the board, the words in the exercise 3, Time: 10 min
form teams. Say a word and instruct that a Vocabulary
member of each team must run to the board
and hit the word. The first to do it wins a point
for his team.
Activity 12 Teacher has students color and draw Time: 10 min 2hr
themselves Vocabulary
Activity 13 Teacher plays with the students “Color Time : 10 min
pass” “Color Touch” and “Color hold Vocabulary
up”. Now take each color and pass it to
your nearest student. Say red as you
pass red. The students pass the color
round the circle. Next , lay 3 colors in
the middle of the circle. Say “ hands
up” Students raise their hands. Then
say “…… “red” and the students for all
the colors. Finally give each student
one of the colored papers. Say hold
up….. blue the students holding the
blue papers raise them into the air.
Activity 15 Teacher asks the students to form a Time: 10 min
circle . Go to the student on your left Speaking
and say Hello! What’s your name.
Encourage students to respond, My
name is…. (Louis). Instruct the students
to ask the same question to the
student on /his/her left until finish
again with you.

Activity 16 Chant numbers Time: 10 min


Display the flashcards of numbers on Vocabulary
the board, asks the students to see the
numbers. Play the recording 3 and
point each number, according to what
it indicates.
Repeat the procedure twice.
Instruct the students to open their
books. Play the recording again, make a
pause after each number and invite the
students to repeat them.
Play one more time the recording but
this time invite all the students to
chant.
Activity 17 Show the flashcards of numbers and Time: 10 min
ask How many? And invite the students 3hr
to respond One! Turn the flashcard to Speaking
show the side of the number and with
his trace number one in the air and say
One!
Ask the students to do the same,
repeat the procedure with the rest of
the numbers.
Activity 18 Draw three stars on the board and Time: 5min
under that write two/three and ask Speaking
How many? Two? Count aloud, one,
two, three.
Enclosed in a circle the word three. Ask
the students to observe the
ilustrations in their book. Instruct
them to count and enclosed with the
circle the correct word.
Activity Say the number. Ask the students to 10 min
cut the cut outs. Say show me a two Vocabulary
and invite the student to stand
up,show the correspondent cut out
and s two! Repeat with various
numbers.
Form groups of three and ask students
to show them to his classmate and
identify it
Activity Look and listen Time 5 min
Ask the students to observe the Vocabulary
ilustrations, play recording 4. Make a
pause after each sentence and ask
students to repeat all together.Ask
some boys to say I’m a boy, and some
girls to say I’m a girl.
Activity Say match and draw with your finger a Time: 5 min
imaginary line between the sentences Vocabulary
and the draws, ask the student to join
each draw with the correspondent
sentence
Activity Look.Use the flahcards corresponding Time: 5 min
to number one and two, put the Vocabulary
flahcard on the board and teach the
vocabulary of boy and girl.
Activity Count and write. Point to the book and Time: 5 min
indicate the first draw, and ask How Writing
many boys and girls are there. Observe
the second draw and invite the
students to count, and invite some
volunteers to write the words on the
board.
Activity Form two teams. Explain to the class Time: 5 min
that you will say a number of girls or Vocabulary
boys, and that this number of girls or
boys has to stand up very quickly.
Acrtivity Asks students to create a glossary with Time 5 min
the cut outs and count the objects. Vocabulary
Wrap up Say Hi and Hello to the students, encourage students to Time: 10 min
answer in the same way. Hold a color pencil and ask students Vocabulary
to count One! Two! Three! Speaking
Ask students some questions about the vocabulary studied
during class. Ask students What is your name? Encourage
students to answer My name is Louis.

Show the pencil colors and ask students to repeat the colors as
you say each color.
Homework Teacher assigns students to work in the page 5 of their book, Time:5 min
on the Look and glue section.
