Taking a screenshot on your iPhone is probably

second nature but what about a screenshot to
capture everything on a website, PDF, email, note,
or stitching together multiple screenshots? Read
on for how to take a scrolling screenshot on

It used to be you needed a third-party app to take a

scrolling screenshot on iPhone. But with iOS now,
you can natively do that with webpages, PDFs, the
Notes app, emails, and more in Apple’s :rst-party
apps. Further down we’ll also look at how to do
this with content in third-party apps.

How to take a scrolling screenshot

on iPhone
With this native iOS option, taking a scrolling
screenshot or “Full Page” screenshot gives you a
PDF of everything on a document, webpage, note,
email in Apple’s apps.

1. Take a screenshot (press the side or top

button and volume up button at the same
time)
2. Tap the preview in the bottom left corner
before it disappears
3. Choose the Full Page option in the top right
corner
4. You can preview all the pages, use markup,
and more before saving
5. You can also tap the crop icon (square-ish
icon next to “Done”) to edit what part of the
Full Page you’d like to save
b. Tap either Done in the top-left corner to save
or the share button in the top right

Third-party apps for scrolling

Another option for taking scrolling screenshots of

content inside third-party apps or for more manual
control is using an app like Picsew or Tailor.

Picsew does have a higher average rating but both

have been optimized for iPhone 12 as well as older
iPhones. You can try out both for free before
deciding to buy the full versions via in-app
purchase.

Does anything do this on a Mac?

Taking whole webpages is a pain there.

The program Capto captures full page web

sites, as well as video capture. I've used this to
create instruction pages for web sites like
WordPress and video instructions (since Capto
records your actions).

Fireshot which is a Chromium-based browser

No, I meant saving a WHOLE webpage, not

just what's on screen at that moment.

Save as PDF in Mac OS will do that ... or

example ... this specific web page would
create a 16 page PDF.

It’s incredibly frustrating that the full page

screenshot only allows to save as a PDF. Using
the Tailor app is much more cumbersome, but it
does save as PNG.

Why save as PNG rather than PDF?

PDF can then quickly be OCR'd in an app you
likely have (I have several PDF apps).

Because all other screenshots are saved as

PNG. In addition to consistency, PNG is
more compatible to import in apps like
Keynote, any word processor or design tool.
It should at the very least be an option next
to PDF.

Michael, does this tip require an iPhone 12, or,

iOS 14.5? I’m using a SE 2020 & iOS 14.4.2 &
after I take a screenshot (press side button &
home button, then tap on bottom right preview
icon) I don't see the Full Page button in upper
right!! ⛺ View — uploads.disquscdn.com
