IMPACT OF ICT BASED TEACHING AND LEARNING

-A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF WEST TRIPURA DISTRICT

Abstract
Information and communication technology (ICT) is the power that has changed many aspects of
the lives. The impact of the ICT on each sector of life across the two-three decades has been
abundant. The way these fields act today is different as compare to the pasts. Across the past
twenty years the use of ICT has basically changed all forms of effort within business, governance
and education. In the area of education, ICT has improved school administration, better
performance of the students and teachers. ICTs are fetching many opportunities for achieving the
goals of the Vision. In the education sector, ICTs have completely changed the pedagogical
practices in recent years. ICT has begun to have a presence but unfortunately still lacking to
achieve desired output. The education is basically a socially oriented activity, it plays essential
role in building the society. Generally it is assumed that ICTs approve teaching and learning to
promote change and cherish the development of ‘21st century skills, but data to support these
beliefs are still narrow. The quality education is traditionally connected with strong teachers
having motivation. Using ICTs ensure education to student centered learning. But a huge
difference seems to be notice in the rural and urban area teaching. This is an attempt to understand
the impact of ICT among secondary school students as well as adaptability of the teachers of west
Tripura district. Uses of YouTube videos by students are creating a specific learning platform
however the contents are not authenticated. The findings give a direction that majority of the
school administrators have intermediate level of computer skills and possess an adequate
computer literacy. The impact of ICT based teaching & integration techniques in students learning
in a different way. The school uses ICT tools for administrative and learning purposes; however,
the use of technology across the curriculum is still at infancy stage. Expected outcomes focused
on systematic teaching and learning possibility with ICT learning and validation. ICT can improve
the life style of rural people by its effective learning process.
