This document contains structural mechanics exercises from Alexandria University for determining equations of elastic curves and deflections of beams. There are 5 exercises involving beams with various supports and loadings to calculate slopes, deflections, and maximum deflections using the method of integration where the moment of inertia is constant. Dr. Ahmed Saeed Zayed is listed as the lecturer for the Structural Mechanics 2 course.

Exercise (1)
(1) Determine the equations of the elastic curve
for the beam using the ݔcoordinate. Specify the slope at ܣand the maximum deflection of the beam. ܫܧis constant.
(2) The bar is supported by a roller constraint at
ܤ, which allows vertical displacement but resists axial load and moment. If the bar is subjected to the loading shown, determine the slope at ܣand the deflection at ܥ. ܫܧis constant. Use the method of integration.
(3) Determine the equations of the elastic curve
using the coordinates ݔଵ and ݔଷ and specify the slope and deflection at point ܤ. ܫܧis constant.
(4) Determine the elastic curve for the simply
supported beam using the ݔcoordinate 0 ݔ ܮ⁄2. Also, determine the slope at ܣand the maximum deflection of the beam. ܫܧis constant.
(5) Determine the maximum deflection
between the supports ܣand ܤ. ܫܧis constant. Use the method of integration.
