Company Introduction
A nutrition, health, and wellness company When it comes to sales, Nestlé isn't just the world's
biggest company. It also has a wide range of products and has a wide reach across the world.
Products like infant formula, milk products, confectionery, ice cream and more are some of
Nestlé's most popular. They also make ready-to-eat meals, frozen ready-to-eat meals, and
mineral water. Nestlé is also a big player in the pet food business. It's safe to say that Nestlé is at
least in second place in most of these product categories and markets, but it's not certain.
Many more than 94% of Nestlé's sales come from the food and drink industry. It has factories
and sales agents in 84 countries. There are 466 of them and at least 70 more in at least 70 more.
It's possible to find Nestle in every country. Nescafe, Nido and Maggi are some of their most
popular brands. Polo, MILO and KITKAT are some of their other well-known brands. 3,000
cups of Nescafe are drank every second, which is a record. This chocolate bar has been in the
Guinness Book of World Records for a long time because people eat 418 Kit Kat fingers a
second. This is what Fortune magazine said about Nestlé in 2011. It was the world's most
profitable company. A market value of US$233 billion made Nestlé the ninth-largest company
in the world in 2013.
HR practices in NESTLE

Nestle's main goals are to be seen as a preferred corporate citizen, a preferred employer, and a
preferred provider of a preferred good. Using this method, look at how Nestle is able to integrate
and align their HR procedures with the rest of their business strategy. New World Dictionary
says that strategy is "the science of planning and directing large-scale military operations, and of
maneuvering forces into the best possible position before they come into contact with the
enemy." Despite its military roots, the term "strategy" is still important in today's business
world. Having a well-defined process for strategic planning and putting it into action is very
important for each business in order to stay alive and keep up with the competition. When it
comes to running a successful business, HRM techniques are very important. It is important for
human resources management methods to be aligned with the company's goals in terms of its
business goals in order to achieve what the company wants to achieve.

Recruitment and Selection

When a company hires or chooses a new worker, it has a big impact on productivity and
effectiveness. This is one of the most important jobs for the HR department. NESTLE hires
people based on their abilities, diversity, and competitive skills. They also put a lot of emphasis
on merit and competitive skills.

Issues

The recent pandemic has made the company come up with new ideas, like hiring employees and
workers based on where they live. This is because there are rules and a lot of other things that
need to be kept up.

Recommendation

NESTLE is trying to build a system and process that can be done all online during this
pandemic. They want to start with online interviews and written exams. ZOOM is a good place
to start when looking for a job. Then, the HR department can talk about salaries and job
responsibilities with the people who have been chosen for the final interview if the person
2|Page
accepts.
In terms of important and senior jobs, sometimes it's important to meet face to face, but you
have to keep all the safety precautions and measurements in mind. HR leaders can also try new
things, like hiring more part-time workers, to make their jobs more interesting. Also, the practice
of promoting people inside the company through succession management rather than hiring a
costly Senior Management person from outside can be used. Every day, HR is working to
improve how they evaluate and run interviews and recruitment programs, and they want to do
better.

Training and Development

Training helps an employee become more skilled and efficient, as well as more confident and
able to deal with stress. NESTLE gives different kinds of training based on what skills are
needed and how big a gap there might be in the workforce or a department.

Issues

During a pandemic, it's hard to do training outside or send employees to get training in different
parts of the country because there are so many people getting sick. Traveling to and from
training centers that use different COVID protocols has become more expensive and difficult for
employees who live far away.

Recommendation

NESTLE can pay for employees to take sponsored online courses that they can pay for
themselves. They can do this with different institutions that they can work with. This not only
keeps learning going, but it also reduces a lot of people's fears and makes them more competent.
It will also be more important for managers and leaders in the company to mentor and coach
their subordinates a lot more closely than before. Because everyone is going through a hard
time, it's very important to keep up the morale and motivation.
New ways to train and grow people The virtual world is a place where people (training) Getting
help with IT and technology is the first thing that needs to be done. The whole process needs to
run smoothly. It's also important that the employees on the other side of the technology are used
to it, since virtual training and online platforms are new ways to communicate and learn.
It all comes down to how good they are at using the technology. This will help them understand
and use this process completely. So, the workforce should be able to change with the times and
learn new skills. During this pandemic, many people are working from home and in other
remote and rural places. Organizations must think of ways to make the learning and
communication platform as easy and convenient as possible.

Compensation and Benefits

Despite what other companies say, NESTLE has decided not to cut basic salaries during this
time of COVID19. Instead, they have decided to keep the basic salaries the same.

Issues

Due to the virus, many distributors and sellers have seen a big drop in sales volume, which has
had a big impact on the company's sales revenue. There have been some problems with
3|Page
suppliers as well. They haven't been able to get goods and materials to the right place in time,
which has caused shipments to be delayed.

Recommendation

If Nestle wants to plan programs that have long-term incentives and other schemes that will be
good for its workers, they can do that, too! Even the prices of basic goods have gone up during
this pandemic. The cost of living in a big city, like Dhaka, which is the capital, can be a lot to
pay for. So at least the company could not make their employees angry by cutting their wages,
but they could make a deal with themselves to make more money. This is what workers expect
from big businesses and multinationals when things get tough. In return, they look forward to
working hard and giving back in the form of hard work and money.

A sense of duty and loyalty. Suppliers and distributors can work out more flexible deals and take
the necessary steps to come to a mutual understanding and common ground that will benefit
everyone.

Performance Management

Performance management is done in NESTLE on a "whole-person" level. From not only their
line managers, but also their peers and subordinates, data and reports are gathered that show
how well an employee has been doing.

Issues
Since there are lockdowns and many parties are even calling for strike action sometimes, we can
see that it can be hard to get where we want to go. Also, the transportation services are so
unpredictable that it can be hard to get to our destination at times. People are also getting sick
and being infected by this virus, which is making them sick. Running after hospitals with your
family or even going to your village where you live can be very stressful for many people.

Recommendation
All of the things and issues that have been talked about should be taken into account by HR in
NESTLE. HR should be supportive to its employees rather than too strict at these times.
Employees should not only be taken care of financially, but HR should also keep an eye on their
mental health and motivation as well, as well. Because all of these factors have a big impact on
the productivity of an employee and the company, HR should use and try out a lot of different
techniques and see which one works best for them.
When managers are evaluating an employee's performance, they should avoid things like bias,
stereotyping, and other things like that. They should also think about the people, managers, and
customers who have something to do with how well the employee does their job.

Safety

A safe and healthy workplace not only protects workers from injury and illness, but it can also
cut costs, reduce absenteeism and turnover, boost productivity, and improve morale. Safety is
good for business. It's also good to protect workers, which is what you should do. NESTLE has
enough fire exits to keep everyone safe. It is easy to find the fire exits because they are marked
4|Page
with red paint. In NESTLE, there is enough fire alarming and enough firefighting equipment to
get the job done. Even though the workers don't get official training, everyone is told what to do
and what to look out for in case of an emergency.
The floors, stairs, and hallways are well-designed and kept up-to-date on any repairs that might
be needed. Keep them clean and clear all the time, so there's nothing in the way In NESTLE,
only people who have been trained as adults are allowed to operate machines. Workers are not
allowed to carry or operate with too much weight, and they are given glasses and gloves and
other safety kits for their protection.

Welfare

Welfare is a group of programs that give money or other help to people or groups in order to
help them and improve their lives. During hard times in their lives, welfare programs help
people deal with their money.
First aid boxes can be found in a place that is very easy to get to, like NESTLE. First aid boxes
are put where they can be found easily, one in front and one in the back of the factory. Safety
records are kept, and a pharmacy and a hospital are just outside the factory. This makes it easier
to get medical help if needed.
Washrooms have showers attached to them, and there are extra basins and places outside the
factory where people can wash and clean. They also have canteens and a small area with trees
where workers can have lunch or rest when they need to.

Other Recommendations for NESTLE

Remote working

In jobs where working from home is easy, it is important to take full advantage of technology to
make this happen. There should be more power and help for departments and operations that can
be done online, as well as the skills that are needed. People who run the department's
infrastructure, miscellaneous bills, and other costs can save a lot of money this way.
To show you how this might work, let's say the marketing department makes a website where
everyone in marketing can communicate with each other and work together on the internet.

Cancellation of International training and development programs

All of the outdoor and international training programs that an organization was supposed to do
or was planning to do can be canceled by the company or organization. Training programs cost a
lot of money, including the trainer's fee, the cost of the training center, and the cost of all the
technology that is used to support the program.
Rather, these trainings or relevant trainings can be given to the employees by many online
institutions that have come up with a new way to do things. There are other ways to help people
learn and grow that are less expensive for now. This way, Nestle can look into these other
options.

Handling Job insecurities

5|Page
Currently, HR practices that help their employees deal with stress can include giving them a
good pay package and giving them a safe place to work. Employees who work in succession
management also get carrier guidelines and a safe way to get around. Many businesses have
great leaders who are good mentors and show their employees how to get to the top.
HR is having a hard time with all these different ways to run the company because of the virus
and pandemic that we're in. This is a new situation for us to be in. So, HR needs to come up with
policies and practices that can also deal with the stress of the pandemic.
The economy and our country have been in a bad way recently, which could make it hard for
people to find jobs. Job security may be at risk because businesses have recently changed how
they do business with new technology and how they communicate has also changed. So,
employees who don't have enough knowledge and skills are having a hard time adapting to the
new situation and the new situation that they're in.

Managers and organizations should be clear about how they communicate with their employees
to make them understand what is going on right now. If they are cutting their salaries, they
should also tell people what they will think about these things in the future. It's important to
answer these questions clearly and communicate them to the people who work for the company.
If they're giving them a competitive salary and cutting back on other benefits, how will this be
paid for?

The Fourth Industrial Revolution

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is a way to break down the barriers between the physical,
digital, and biological worlds, so we can all live in the same world. It includes advancements in
artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, 3D printing, quantum computing, and other technologies
that are used in business and in people's daily lives at home and at work.
An organization can't stay the same and avoid new challenges. If your employees don't
understand that technology will keep getting better, it will be very hard for your company to
deal with things like the pandemic and other problems and crises. So, training and development
should be given top priority to improve skills and knowledge in both technological and non-
technological areas as well.
Digitalization is going to change the world and how it works, and it's going to be very different.
A company and its employees should be able to use and adopt new technology as a strength and
gain from it. People in HR jobs all over the world are trying to solve a lot of problems that they
are having right now. When it comes to their communication and business processes, one of
their main strengths and strategies has been to use technology. People who use technology will
become more skilled and their job insecurity will be lessened because they will be able to work
well. People who aren't us have talked about making sure that their employees can work in a
post COVID world. Among other things, this includes the safety precautions that must be taken
and how employees will be taught and educated.
A lot of organizations have tried to stay the same, but the market took care of them quickly.
Then, HR should think of technology and digital processes as its friends and use their strengths
to get the most out of them.
New software is being used by HR in many businesses to use payroll and also to rate the
performance of their employees. The Google platform and other systems are also used for things
like interviewing employees or collecting reports and so on, too. Changing the way people think
about technology and training them to be more open to new skills and methods can help them
deal with the negative aspects of technology.

6|Page
Conclusion
Since now, there is a new generation of people who can get information no matter where they
are. So, the HR should put the new things first and use the strategies accordingly. Perhaps 10
years ago, an HR manager only needed to know how to do things in the workplace. With time,
he might also need to learn how to use technology as well.
When Microsoft Excel first came out, it was thought to be the best tool for analyzing and
programming, but over time it has become outdated in many businesses.

Another thing to note is that learning has become easier and there are many more sources from
which to learn. So, the competition and expectations have also gone up because of the rapid
digitalization of businesses. Companies want to find and hire the best people with both
analytical and technological skills.
