Dynamic and multi-talented artist who has dedicate her life to using music as a means of connecting
people and inspiring social change. As a concert pianist, researcher, and producer, Carla has had the
opportunity to work on a range of exciting projects that have taken her around the world.
With a Master's degree in Music Performance from Goldsmiths University of London, Carla has a deep
understanding of contemporary music and its role in shaping culture. She has also been part of Live Music
Now UK team, an organization founded by the renowned violinist Yehudi Menuhin, that focuses on
bringing music to special people. As a member of the Brazilian Ensemble, Carla performed Brazilian and
Amazonian music at concerts and workshops across the UK, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates,
spreading the joy of music to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
In 2012, Carla won the Funarte Prize for her groundbreaking project "Multiplying Brazilian music in the
Amazon," which inspired her to create "A Piano in the Amazon", a project aimed to bring a piano on
a boat and hold concerts and workshops on the music of local composers from the Amazon, introducing
the piano to remote communities who had never seen the instrument before and had never heard of
their composers.
As a result, the pianist produced a CD and a documentary film released in 2018, awarded and shown at
various film festivals in Europe, USA, England, Brazil and Morocco.
In 2021 she acquired a house in the small town of Alter do Chão, nestled in the heart of the Amazon
rainforest, where she now hosts music workshops and artist residencies at the Ikowé Amazônia House.
Her vision is to use music as a bridge between people and nature, and to inspire creativity and innovation
through cultural exchange and exploration.
Carla's passion for music and her dedication to social and cultural projects have made her a highly
respected figure in the music industry. Her work is a testament to the transformative power of music and
its ability to bring people together, regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances. Through her
projects, Carla is making a difference in the world, one note at a time.
