PROJECT VIDET

VIdeo Demonstration Teaching

I. Introduction and Rationale

The new normal for the education sector requires more

than transferring lessons and learning to the learners. Teaching

and learning process in the new normal means learning is about

providing instruction to students who are at home and cannot go

to the physical school because of the coronavirus disease

(Covid-19) pandemic. According to Cabaero (2020), change

instruction to adapt to the platform. Digital tools must be

available to make class material compelling and new ways to

measure learning outcomes. Mateo(2020) stated that according

to DepEd, with distance or blended learning ,it is necessary to

utilize alternative tools and strategies for assessing and

supporting learning, while avoiding creating undue pressure on

the teachers, learners and their families.

Tinga (2020) stated that, modern technology-enabled

communication is at the forefront of distance learning. This includes

sessions on how to effectively use radio or audio and video

instruction, basic phone photography and videography, and online

tools to design instructional materials.

Some researches revealed that using ICT in teaching

lessons is effective. According to Bitchayda,Malimban &

Paiton(2019), ICT integration had useful and significant effects to

the achievement level of students. Lapid(2019) stated that students

cognitive development was enhanced by the utilization of ICT.With

these perspectives, the researcher tried to use PROJECT VIDET

to help the learners to have constant learning during distance

learning. The primary purpose of this research was to assess the

learning ability of using video lessons made by the teacher for

distance learning. In addition, PROJECT VIDET has a purpose of

identifying the effectiveness of self-made video lessons to learners

to make and conduct their performance output.

II. Action Research Questions

1. Is there any significant difference between the pre-test and post-

test scores of students under Grade 5-Mapagbigay who were

subjected to PROJECT VIDET?

2. What is the achievement level of students under Grade 5-

Mapagbigay after PROJECT VIDET was used?

III. Proposed Innovation, Intervention and Strategy

According to Nisperos (2020), learning will not stop if we

adopt innovative and inclusive education solutions. With that the

teacher researcher will have Project VIDET as an innovation for the

learners to learn Technology and Livelihood Education in the new

normal. The intervention of the teacher will be a self-made video

lesson for every competency that that the learners need to have

performance output. Using Project VIDET, teacher will share self-

made video lessons in addition to the modules that the learners are

receiving. All students will receive video lessons every week. Video

lesson will send using Messenger of the learners’ parents or will

put in a USB if the parents don’t have the capacity to load. Project

VIDET will help the learners to understand the ideas of the lesson

discussed in the printed module. It will also help the parent in

discussing the lessons to the learners. The teacher will also have a

chance to properly assess the learning of the learners every week.

Before the intervention process, the teacher will give pre-test to

assess the learning of the students. After the intervention, the

teacher will give posttest to measure if the learners learning using

the intervention given by the teacher. The teacher will conduct the

intervention during the 1 st Grading period of the year. If the

intervention will be appropriate to the learners, it will continue

throughout the year.

IV. Action Research Methods

a. Participants and other sources

This study will be limited to the respondents of the study and it will

be 14 learners under Grade 5- Mapagbigay of Tagaytay City Central

School for S.Y. 2020-2021. The respondents of the study will be chosen
using purposive sampling. To attain at the sample size, purposive

sampling will use wherein the obtained sample size were made equivalent

to the population size.

b. Data Gathering Methods

Quantitative method will be used in the study since the pre-test

and posttest results will be used. The pre-experimental method of

research will be used in the study to assess the performance output of the

learners and to achieve the objectives of the study. The primary research

instrument used in the collection of data will be pre-test and posttest

results and students' performance output record. Data will be gathered

through conducting pre-test and post-test before and after treatment to

assess the effectiveness of the intervention.

c. Data Analysis Plan

After conducting the intervention, the results of the tests given

during the intervention will be analyzed. Independent Sample t-Test will be

used as statistical tool to analyze the data. Performance output record will

support the result of the tests given to make the result accurate.
