1. 0800-0900: Registration, Coffee, and Networking 2. 0900-0930: Introductions and Class Overview 3. 0930-1030: Communications o Essentials for effective communications saying what you mean and being persuasive to different audiences 4. 1030-1130: Blogging 101 o Why you should blog, how to get started, and what to blog about 5. 1130-1200: Q&A/Discussion/Hands-On (continues through lunch) 6. 1200-1300: Lunch (provided) 7. 1300-1400: Video Fundamentals o Why you should use video, different types of video material to consider, and how to get started 8. 1400-1430: Social Media o Facebook and Twitter fundamentals for activists 9. 1430-1500: Introduction to SEO/OIM o Search engine optimization and online identity management for promotion and protection 10. 1500-1515: Break 11. 1515-1600: Research Fundamentals o Where to find useful information, recognizing whether its reliable, and building your credibility 12. 1600-1700: Legal Concerns I o Knowing your First Amendment rights and avoiding legal traps 13. 1700-1730: Q&A/Discussion/Hands-On 14. 1730: Adjourn for happy hour

October 8 - Advanced Camp:


1. 0800-0900: Registration, Coffee, and Networking 2. 0900-0930: Introductions and Class Overview 3. 0930-1030: Communications o Enhancing your communications skills and persuasiveness 4. 1030-1130: Expert Blogging o Tips and techniques for improving your reach and effectiveness as a blogger 5. 1130-1200: Q&A/Discussion/Hands-On (continues through lunch) 6. 1200-1300: Lunch (provided) 7. 1300-1400: Advanced Topics in Video o Once youve learned to shoot and edit, what can you do with those skills? And how? 8. 1400-1430: Social Media o Raising your profile and getting your message out on Facebook and Twitter 9. 1430-1500: Advanced Topics in SEO/OIM o Metrics to help you track progress, research strategies to help build on it, and the joys of link love 10. 1500-1515: Break 11. 1515-1600: Research Techniques o CORA requests, legwork, and doing the digging the mainstream media used to do 12. 1600-1700: Legal Concerns II o Knowing what you can and cant do as an activist and/or citizen journalist 13. 1700-1730: Q&A/Discussion/Hands-On 14. 1730: Adjourn for happy hour

Logistics:
Meals: coffee and donuts/cookies in the morning and a sandwich lunch with assorted beverages are included in the registration fee. Location: both classes will be held on the campus of Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, in room SB103 in the School of Business (marked F in the map below).
