SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Summary

This study focused on the inventory of macrofungi in

selected barangays of Pambujan, Northern Samar.

Specifically, this study aimed to meet the following

objectives (1) identify the different species of macrofungi

(2) assess the distribution of macrofungi (3) document the

spores of macrofungi collected.

This study was conducted to identify the macrofungi

species present in selected barangays of Pambujan, Northern

Samar. This study focuses only in the selected barangays of

Pambujan namely: Barangay Tula, Barangay Don Sixto, Barangay

Senonogan, Barangay Igot, and Barangay Ginulgan, Pambujan,

Northern Samar. This was conducted on the month of January

to March 2023.

This study employed the descriptive method to describe

the present macrofungi species in the sampling sites.

Purposive sampling technique was used during the conduct of

the study to gather information on the different species of

macrofungi found in the study areas. This sampling

method relies on the researcher’s judgment when identifying

36

and selecting the individuals, cases, or events that can

provide the best information to achieve the study’s

objectives. Each specimen of macrofungi was collected,

identified, and photographed at each sampling site. In

addition, for the distribution pattern of species, a mobile

application Maps-Me was used to pinpoint the precise

location and record the coordinates where macrofungi were

found. As a result, the output will be a map with dot/plot

distribution.

There are twenty-eight (28) macrofungi species namely:

Auricularia auricularia-judae, Auricularia fuscosuccinea,

Bjerkandera adusta, Cookenia speciosa, Fomitopsis pinicola,

Ganoderma lucidum, Ganoderma tsugae, Leratiomyces ceres,

Lentinus fasciatus, Lentinus sajor-caju, Lentinus tigrinus,

Microporus xanthopus, Peziza repanda, Peziza violacea,

Pleurocybella porrigens, Pleurotus ostreatus, Pleurotus

pulmonarius, Pycnoporus cinnabarinus, Pycnoporus coccineus,

Pycnoporus sanguines, Russula sanguinaria, Sarcoscypha

coccinea, Stereum hirsutum, Stereum lobatum, Termitomyces

cartilaginous, Trametes elegans, Trametes pubescens and

Trogian venenata represented two (2) division Ascomycota and

Basidiomycota; two (2) class Agaricomycetes and

Pezizomycetes; six (6) order Agaricales, Auriculariales,

Polyporales, Russulates, Pezizales and Russulales belonging

37

to fourteen (14) families namely; Auriculariaceae,

Fomitopsidaceae, Ganodermataceae, Lyophyllaceae,

Meruliaceae, Pezizaceae, Phyllotopsidaceae, Pleurotaceae,

Polyporaceae, Sarcoscyphaceae, Steraceae, Strophariaceae,

Russulaceae and Tricholomataceae; eighteen (18) genera

namely: Auricularia, Bjerkandera, Cookenia, Fomitopsis,

Ganoderma, Leratiomyces, Lentinus, Microporus, Peziza,

Pleurocybella, Pleurotus, Pycnoporus, Russula, Sarcoscypha,

Stereum, Termitomyces, Trametes and Trogian.

During the conduct of study, Barangay Don Sixto and

Senonogan found a total of twenty-three (23) different

species out of 28 total identified species followed by

Barangay Tula which found a total of twenty (20) different

species, Barangay Ginulgan which found nineteen (19)

different micro fungi species and the least was barangay

Igot which only found thirteen (13) different species. This

implies that there were different macrofungi species found

in the different sampling areas of the municipality.

The researcher attempted to document a spore print but

failed, and the plates below were documentation of the

multiple attempts.

Conclusion

Based on the finding of the study, the following

conclusion were drawn.

1. There are twenty-eight (28) macrofungi species

namely: Auricularia auricularia-judae, Auricularia

fuscosuccinea, Bjerkandera adusta, Cookenia speciosa,

Fomitopsis pinicola, Ganoderma lucidum, Ganoderma tsugae,

Leratiomyces ceres, Lentinus fasciatus, Lentinus sajor-

caju, Lentinus tigrinus, Microporus xanthopus, Peziza

repanda, Peziza violacea, Pleurocybella porrigens,

Pleurotus ostreatus, Pleurotus pulmonarius, Pycnoporus

cinnabarinus, Pycnoporus coccineus, Pycnoporus sanguines,

Russula sanguinaria, Sarcoscypha coccinea, Stereum

hirsutum, Stereum lobatum, Termitomyces cartilaginous,

Trametes elegans, Trametes pubescens and Trogian venenata

represented two (2) division Ascomycota and Basidiomycota;

two (2) class Agaricomycetes and Pezizomycetes; six (6)

order Agaricales, Auriculariales, Polyporales, Russulates,

Pezizales and Russulales belonging to fourteen (14) families

namely; Auriculariaceae, Fomitopsidaceae, Ganodermataceae,

Lyophyllaceae, Meruliaceae, Pezizaceae, Phyllotopsidaceae,

(18) genera namely: Auricularia, Bjerkandera, Cookenia,

Fomitopsis, Ganoderma, Leratiomyces, Lentinus, Microporus,

Peziza, Pleurocybella, Pleurotus, Pycnoporus, Russula,

Sarcoscypha, Stereum, Termitomyces, Trametes and Trogian.

2. Study revealed that Barangay Don Sixto and Senonogan

found a total of twenty-three (23) different species out of

28 total identified species followed by Barangay Tula which

found a total of twenty (20) different species, Barangay

Ginulgan which found nineteen (19) different micro fungi

species and the least was barangay Igot which only found

thirteen (13) different species. This implies that there

were different macrofungi species found in the different

sampling areas of the municipality.

3. It is concluded that it is hard to document a spore

print after the multiple attempts. Obtaining spore deposits

strands are very sensitive.

Recommendation

The following recommendations are presented based on

the result of the study.

1. Conduct a follow up study on macrofungi in the same

municipality but in other barangays.

2. Further study on the economic useful or edible

macrofungi in the municipality.

3. Include the identification of the impact on the

abundance of these species.
