CHAPTER I. BUSINESS CONCEPT

INTRODUCTION

The fries products that the competitors recently selling in the market, are all the

same and traditional, it just varies on its flavor, but, there is a difference between a

regular fries to the Mr. Kamote’s fries. The regular fries are made from potato, while the

business product is made from sweet potato. It is cheaper than regular one and have

more health benefits, because, sweet potato is a great source of fiber, vitamins, minerals,

can enhance brain functions, support healthy vision and immune system. That is why, the

profitable and it’s a great way for making good profit. The business has the right target

market and provide or produced delicious and a good quality food. There are so many

competitors when it comes to a fries product, but, the business product’s uniqueness from

other ordinary fries is the key for the business to have customers and gain profit.

According to International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD),

sweet potatoes contain the sugar raffinose, which when consumed in excess can cause

bloating. It belongs to the family of oligosaccharides, which our digestive system is

unable to process. In the intestines, raffinose is converted to gas such as hydrogen a

carbon dioxide

(CO2). Cassava can result in cyanide poisoning because to the natural poisons it contains,

and its higher calorific value makes it more likely to induce weight gain and cardiac

disorders. Other possible adverse effects include headache, nausea, vomiting, exhaustion,

and nerve damage. But, in order to reduce the gas production from raffinose, The Mr.

Kamote will be cooking sweet potato that contain raffinose, for a longer period of time.

This breaks down the complex sugars into simpler ones that are easier to digest. One way

that the company will solve the issue is by also soaking the cassava overnight before

cooking them to further reduce the levels of raffinose. And The company will make sure

that the cassava will be processed properly before consumption to reduce the risk of

cyanide poisoning. Peeling, soaking, and boiling the cassava can reduce the cyanide

content significantly. And, the Mr. Kamote will not use an over ripe cassava, as the

cyanide levels increase as the cassava ages. To avoid weight gain and cardiac disorders

caused by the higher calorific value of cassava, the company recommended to consume

cassava in moderation and combine it with a balanced diet and regular physical activity.

The Mr. Kamote main objective is revenue growth: One of the company's

primary objectives is to increase revenue and profitability. The business will set a

revenue growth objective by increasing sales, expanding its customer base, or introducing

without compromising quality. We are planning on doing this by improving efficiency in

the production process, optimizing the supply chain, or reducing waste. One of the crucial

CHAPTER III. STRATEGIC PLAN

COMPANY HISTORY

Mr. Kamote is a young and exciting food business that was started just last

month by a group of friends who are passionate about creating delicious and healthy

snacks. The company's primary product is sweet potato fries, which are made from

locally sourced sweet potatoes and prepared using a unique and well-preserved

ingredient.

The idea for Mr. Kamote began when the founders realized that there was a

growing demand for healthier snack options in their local community. They noticed that

while there were plenty of fast-food restaurants offering traditional French fries, there

ASSEMBLYWOMAN FELICITA G. BERNADINO MEMORIAL TRADE SCHOOL
Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

were very few options for people who wanted something that was both delicious and

nutritious. After experimenting with different recipes and cooking methods, the founders

of Mr. Kamote finally perfected their sweet potato fries recipe.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTH

Mr. Kamote fries have many strengths that can contribute to their success in the

market. One strength is their high nutritional value, as they are made from sweet

potatoes, a healthy ingredient rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. This can appeal to

health-

conscious consumers and be a unique selling point for the product. Kamote fries can also

be produced using sustainable farming practices, which can appeal to environmentally

conscious consumers and contribute to a positive brand image. In addition, their cultural

significance as a popular Filipino snack can create a strong emotional connection with

consumers and contribute to brand loyalty. Kamote fries can also be made available in a

variety of locations, from street food stalls to supermarkets, increasing their visibility and

accessibility to a wide range of consumers. Finally, the versatility of sweet potatoes

allows for innovation and differentiation in the product line. Overall, these strengths

make Kamote fries a promising product in the market.

WEAKNESSES

ASSEMBLYWOMAN FELICITA G. BERNADINO MEMORIAL TRADE SCHOOL
Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

One significant weakness in the SWOT analysis of kamote fries is its limited

appeal to a broader market. While there is a growing trend towards healthier eating and a

demand for alternative snack options, not all consumers are familiar with or interested in

sweet potato fries. Some consumers may prefer traditional French fries or other snacks

that they are more familiar with, which could limit the market potential for kamote fries.

Another weakness of kamote fries is their availability in certain regions. Sweet

potatoes are not universally grown or consumed, and the availability of kamote fries may

be limited to certain geographic areas. This could limit the product's market potential,

especially if consumers in other regions are not aware of or interested in sweet potato

fries.

Additionally, kamote fries may face some challenges in terms of production

and distribution. As a relatively new product, there may be limited knowledge and

infrastructure for the production and distribution of kamote fries, which could lead to

issues with consistency and availability.

Overall, while kamote fries have a unique and appealing position in the market

as a healthier snack option, their limited appeal and availability, as well as challenges in

production and distribution, represent significant weaknesses in the SWOT analysis.

ASSEMBLYWOMAN FELICITA G. BERNADINO MEMORIAL TRADE SCHOOL
Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

Producers of kamote fries will need to address these weaknesses by increasing awareness

and education of the product, expanding its availability, and improving production and

distribution processes to reach a broader market.

OPPORTUNITIES

Since that it is a novel product in the sector of selling fries, Mr. Kamote has a

fantastic opportunity on the market. Consumers can benefit from more than just Mr.

Kamote's originality. However, the flexibility that is required to pique customers' interest

in offering criticism of the product may as well have a significant impact when critics

recognize and value favorable comments. Our target demographic can be more broadly

defined by promoting on popular advertising platforms like Facebook, Instagram,

TikTok, Twitter, and many others. We may associate and work together with influencers

who can influence individuals regardless of their age or gender because we live in a

technologically advanced society. The company's brand name carries it through the

decades, and there is plenty proof of this. Today Mr. Kamote introduces himself as the

owner of a tiny company with a big goal that may provide inspiration and opportunity.

Mr. Kamote's branding exudes humility, which is both a strength and an opportunity for

the fundamental mission and success vision.

THREATS

ASSEMBLYWOMAN FELICITA G. BERNADINO MEMORIAL TRADE SCHOOL
Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

Kamote fries, also known as sweet potato fries, have become increasingly

popular in recent years as a healthier alternative to traditional French fries. However, like

any food product, there are potential threats that could affect the success of kamote fries

in the market.

One major threat for Mr. Kamote is the competition from other healthy snack

options. As the trend towards healthier eating continues, more companies are introducing

alternative snack options that appeal to health-conscious consumers. This includes

products like kale chips, vegetable crisps, and other vegetable-based snacks. The

increasing

availability and diversity of these alternatives may make it harder for kamote fries to

stand out in the market. Another threat for Mr. Kamote is the potential for negative

publicity. If there were to be any incidents of food contamination or recalls associated

with kamote fries, it could harm the brand's reputation and consumer trust. Additionally,

negative reviews or social media comments could spread quickly and damage the

product's image, making it difficult to regain customer loyalty.

Finally, the availability and price of the raw materials needed to produce

kamote fries could be a threat. Sweet potatoes are a seasonal crop and their availability

can be affected by weather conditions or other external factors. If the supply of sweet

ASSEMBLYWOMAN FELICITA G. BERNADINO MEMORIAL TRADE SCHOOL
Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

potatoes were to be disrupted, it could affect the production of kamote fries and

potentially result in increased prices for consumers.

In conclusion, while Mr. Kamote have a unique and appealing position in the

market as a healthier snack option, there are potential threats that could impact the

product's success. These include competition from other healthy snacks, negative

publicity, and availability and price of raw materials. To mitigate these threats, it will be

important for Mr. Kamote producers to stay aware of the market trends, maintain a focus

on quality and safety, and ensure a reliable supply chain for raw materials.

PESTLE FACTORS

POLITICAL

There are some factors that will affect the Mr. Kamote in terms of political and

government. So, it is really important for the company to find how the upcoming

legislations can affect the business activities because, there are times where it can lead to

a risk and a major loss of revenue. The first example of this factors that might affect Mr.

Kamote, is when the business imports or trades raw materials for its production, which is

sweet potato and its some ingredients. The company should choose a country who

focuses on agriculture like Japan, but offers cheap price and meets the quality so, it can

ASSEMBLYWOMAN FELICITA G. BERNADINO MEMORIAL TRADE SCHOOL
Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

be a benefit for the company since, the costs of operation and production is not that

expensive, which can cause to higher profit and revenue. But, why do Mr. Kamote have

to import sweet potato? To prevent adverse risks that we can experience with our local

supplier, Mr. Kamote wants to import sweet potatoes, among other things. The

company's goal is to continue supporting more local farmers by highlighting and

recognizing them. It might also play a role in developing a more affordable product that

appeals to buyers and investors. It is a terrific way to support the demand and supply of

Mr. Kamote's needs and backup plan.

Then, if Mr. Kamote company became huge and successful. It should build a

foundation where donations or charities are given. Because, it can help the business to

lessen its tax to the government. The statement talks about the benefits of the company

with the foundation to lessen tax, but sometimes a good effect has the opposite. For

example, a rise in income tax will lower the consumer's income. This implies that

individuals will have less money to spend on goods and services, which will lessen or

lower

demand and sales revenues for Mr. Kamote company. With reduced revenue, Mr.

Kamote company might not be able to invest in new equipment or other financial projects

for growth and expansion. If demand keeps declining, the business may run out of cash

and close its door.

ASSEMBLYWOMAN FELICITA G. BERNADINO MEMORIAL TRADE SCHOOL
Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

ECONOMIC

Mr. Kamote can be analyze positively using the PESTLE framework in terms of

its economic impact. By using locally sourced and renewable ingredients, Mr. Kamote

fries can keep production costs low and maintain a stable supply. Furthermore, the

increasing demand for healthy and sustainable snack options can lead to market growth

for Mr. Kamote. Companies can price Kamote fries competitively, and by promoting its

nutritional and sustainable benefits, can even command a premium price. However, the

snack food market is highly competitive, and Mr. Kamote may face competition from

other healthy snack options. Companies must differentiate their product and emphasize

its unique benefits to stand out in the market. Mr. Kamote also comply with food safety

regulations and standards, which can increase production costs, and companies must be

aware of trade regulations or tariffs that may affect import and export. While Mr. Kamote

can contribute to local economies by providing employment opportunities and supporting

local agriculture, economic instability, such as changes in exchange rates or inflation, can

affect the cost of production and market demand for Kamote fries. Therefore, the use of

technology, such as modern equipment and online marketing, can improve efficiency,

reduce production costs, and increase the visibility and accessibility of Mr. Kamote to

consumers. Overall, Mr. Kamote can have a positive economic impact on employment,

local agriculture, and market growth, which companies can maximize by addressing

pricing, competition, regulation, economic stability, and technology.

Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

The business should eliminate some wasteful expenses in order to sustain profit

margins during inflation. Analyzing the cost structure is one technique to find these

unneeded expenses. Limit expenditure to areas that directly improve profit margins by

separating the variable production costs from the fixed expenses and identifying the costs

that directly affect growing earnings. In addition, increasing production and efficiency is

another strategy for combating inflation. This will enable them to serve more clients,

which will boost revenue while also helping to reduce costs. And, if the cost of items is

steadily growing due to inflation, Mr. Kamote Company may be able to save costs by

storing up on raw materials and purchasing in bulk.

SOCIAL

Mr. Kamote fries can have a positive impact on society by contributing to

public health and well-being, creating employment opportunities, supporting local

agriculture and communities, and preserving cultural heritage. Sweet potatoes, the main

ingredient in Kamote fries, are a healthy and nutritious food source that can help promote

healthy eating habits. The production and sale of Kamote fries can also create

employment opportunities,

Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

particularly in rural areas where sweet potatoes are grown. Sourcing sweet potatoes from

local farmers can promote sustainable farming practices and help support local

economies.

Kamote fries are a popular Filipino snack that can help preserve and celebrate

the country's culinary heritage. Additionally, the production and promotion of Kamote

fries

can be used as a platform to educate consumers about sustainable agriculture, healthy

eating habits, and the importance of supporting local communities and economies. With

its accessibility and potential positive impact, Kamote fries can help promote food

diversity and accessibility, particularly in areas where healthy snack options may be

limited. By taking a socially responsible approach, the production and promotion of

Kamote fries can contribute to improving the well-being of consumers, farmers, and

communities.

TECHNOLOGICAL

Social networking is one of the various methods we may promote our goods.

Nowadays, social media is a significant platform, and many businesses use it to advertise

ASSEMBLYWOMAN FELICITA G. BERNADINO MEMORIAL TRADE SCHOOL
Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

their products online. A business or its goods can advertise on Facebook, Instagram, and

other social media sites. Advertising on radio and television is also an option because it's

one way to get the word out about the product and boost its popularity. All entrepreneurs

will benefit immensely from technology because it helps in a variety of ways, including

informing the public and demonstrating the type of product we want to launch onto the

market. Also, as technology advances slowly year after year, it provides opportunities for

entrepreneur. As technology becomes more prevalent and practically everyone owns a

device, it opens up opportunities for business owners. One such potential is the ability to

advertise on social media.

LEGAL

Laws are always present when starting a business or expanding an existing one.

For example, consumer protection laws are crucial to every business owner because

customer health is always a top priority and no one wants to receive bad reviews. Equally

important are laws pertaining to employees’ health and safety because neither employers

nor employees want unsafe working conditions. Always put first in everything are

people's

health and safety. Obviously, having a business entails developing advertisements to

advertise the services it provides. If laws continue to exist, everyone should exercise

ASSEMBLYWOMAN FELICITA G. BERNADINO MEMORIAL TRADE SCHOOL
Specialized Subject/Business Enterprise Simulation/2022-2023

caution regarding whether or not something is copyrighted since they may bring legal

action against anyone who does not do so.

Furthermore, permits are required before launching a business, such as a

business permit. How does it matter? The business permit can be thought of as a

"permission to operate" inside that particular area because it is a crucial compliance

document that grants and permits a business to lawfully function and do business in the

area in which it is registered. In order to avoid potential consequences, including fines,

penalties, and business closure, registered enterprises should not be operating without an

up-to-date business permit.

The Business Permit is a tool used by Local Government Units (LGUs)—

barangays and municipalities monitor and keep tabs on all enterprises operating within

their area of control. The fee for not registering the business is at least P20,000.00. One

of the permits that must be obtained is a business permit, and if you can't get one of

those, laws will always be in place.

ENVIRONMENTAL

Mr. Kamote's fries can have a positive impact on the environment when

produced using sustainable farming practices. By promoting crop rotation, organic

fertilizers, and natural pest control methods, Kamote fries can reduce the environmental

impact of production. Sweet potatoes are a renewable resource that can be grown year

after year, which reduces the need for non-renewable resources and can promote

sustainable land use. The packaging materials used for Mr. Kamote can be made from

recycled materials or be recyclable, reducing waste and promoting a circular economy.

Modern technologies and equipment can be used to reduce energy consumption during

the production of Mr. Kamote's fries, reducing the carbon footprint and promoting energy

efficiency. Sourcing sweet potatoes from local farmers can reduce transportation

emissions and support local economies while promoting sustainable agriculture practices.

Companies that produce Kamote fries can prioritize environmental stewardship by

implementing sustainability initiatives, supporting conservation efforts, and reducing

waste and pollution. Overall, Mr. Kamote can contribute to a healthier and more

sustainable future by promoting renewable resources, recycling, energy efficiency, local
