ANNEXURE -1

SPECIAL SAFETY FEATURES OF UNIQUE MAKE DROP PIT TABLE.

Adopting the latest trend and development globally, UNIQUE bring innovative solution to
build the Drop Pit Table, with special consideration to have in-built safety for each of
Equipment built by Unique. UNIQUE Make Drop Pit table are built for enhanced safety –
with following special features:

1) LOAD SCREW: The load screws used are machined Buttress thread. The buttress threads,
allow exceptionally high stresses along the thread axis, in one direction. The contact flank
of the thread, is nearly perpendicular to thread axis, to reduce the radial component of
thrust to minimum.
2) INHERENT SELF LOCKING: Pitch of Buttress thread designed, to have inherent self
locking – to make them ideal for lifting the costly equipment / components. i.e. in the
event of a breakage in the hoist mechanism the service table will not descend by itself.
3) FLEXURAL SHEAR ELIMINATED: UNIQUE’s DPT with Screws designed for
compression, eliminates the possible breakage by flexural shear / bending.
4) SAFETY NUT ELIMINATED: Compression design of Screw eliminates the need for
additional feature such as secondary Safety Nuts and interlocking arrangement to shut
down the drop table for a screw failure.
5) WEAR RESISTANCE OF NUT: To sustain heavy loads, shocks and harsh working
environments, found in Railway sheds / works, Superior Materials (instead of Gunmetal),
is selected for enhanced life (delaying the failure scenario of screw nut), due to wear of Nut
threads.
6) RIGID COLUMN WITH RIGID SUPPORT FOR TOP BEARING / COVERED SCREW:
The screws, on the UNIQUE MAKE Drop Table, are housed inside of the steel column so
that screws are protected from damage in the shop environment. The front opening is
covered with a protection band on the top and the bottom to keep the dirt and debris off of
the lifting screw. Our competitor’s screws, are outside of the column and is only protected
by a bellow on the top of the screw. The Top Bearings are cantilever and supported by
bolts – with more chances of failures, in case of accident – including accidental bumping of
DPT with either at Rail ends or Lock Bar extensions.
7) Resilient buffers are provided in the travel wheels end carriage and also in Dolly to prevent
damage in the event of over-travel.
8) The end carriages are provided with anti-drop feature that limits the fall within 10mm in
case of wheel axle breakage.
9) The end carriages are provided with sweeper plates that remove any small obstruction on
the way thus protecting the wheel tread. Also, this ensures safety against any person’s feet
or hand coming in contact with the wheel.
10) Hand railings are provided on the service platform for safety of personnel.
11) The service table top is provide with toe guards all around to prevent the fall of objects on
the drive mechanism parts or on to the pit.
