Lead-in:

Engage the students by displaying the 20 pictures representing the

steps in party planning from the article "How to Put Together a Good
Party." Ask the students to recall the main ideas and details they
read in the article.
The teacher should pose questions like:
What do you remember about the steps in party planning?
Can you think of any important aspects of organizing a successful
party?
Set the task:
1. Divide the students into pairs or small groups.
2. Explain that they will take turns giving advice and discussing
their own experiences related to party planning.
3. Provide each group with a set of prompt cards containing
different aspects of party planning, such as invitations, food,
decorations, or entertainment.
4. Instruct the students to take turns drawing a card, discussing
the topic for 3-5 minutes, and sharing their thoughts,
experiences, or suggestions with their partner or group.
Example prompt cards:
 What are some creative invitation ideas you've seen or used?
 Share a favorite party food recipe or dish.
 How do you create a festive atmosphere with decorations?
 Have you ever organized games or activities at a party? Which
ones were successful?
Monitor the task:
During the activity, circulate among the groups, listening to their
conversations, and providing assistance if needed. Take notes on
their language use, fluency, and accuracy for feedback purposes.
Give feedback on the task:
After the activity, provide feedback to the students as follows:
Whole-class feedback: Share some interesting ideas or experiences
you overheard during the discussions, highlighting positive language
use and effective communication strategies.
Error correction: Address any recurring errors or language issues that
you noticed during the activity, providing correct models and
explanations.
Group feedback: Give each group an opportunity to share one
interesting idea or piece of advice they discussed during the activity.
Encourage other groups to ask questions or provide additional input.
And to answer the last question [why this activity and article? ]
This speaking activity promotes fluency, encourages the students to
share personal experiences and ideas, and reinforces the content of
the article "How to Put Together a Good Party." The activity allows
the students to engage in authentic conversation related to party
planning, enabling them to practice their speaking skills in a
meaningful and interactive way. Additionally, discussing party
planning tips helps develop their vocabulary and knowledge of
cultural aspects related to hosting parties.
