1. RECEPTIVE
LISTENING
Listening is the most important skill in
communication. It is a mental process
that involves processing sound waves,
interpreting their meaning, and storing
them in memory. It is closely related to
speaking and allows the person to
absorb any information given to them.
Communication will be hampered if
people do not listen. Learning prediction
and anticipation skills is essential for
effective communication.
2. EXPRESSIVE/PRODUCTIVE
SPEAKING
Speaking is the process of verbally
conveying a message to a receiver,
or the process by which the
listener applies what he or she
has heard to himself or herself.
Communication can break down if
the receiver does not understand
what the sender is saying or if the
sender does not know how to
construct a proper sentence.
READING
Reading is the third language
communication skill. It is the
process of analyzing symbols in
order to comprehend the sender's
message. Reading is learned by
memorizing alphabets, analyzing
sounds per letter, and applying this
knowledge to decode messages.
Reading takes practice, and
communication will fail if the
receiver does not understand what
they are reading.
WRITING
The final and most difficult skill in
communication. It takes time and
practice to master the skill of
writing. Knowing the strokes of
each letter in the alphabet can
help you practice writing. Writing
is also a process in which a
person can express himself
through symbols. Writing can also
be used to develop and strengthen
human connections and society
as a whole.
