I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of: African literature as a
means of exploring forces that human beings contend with; various reading
styles vis-a-vis purposes of reading prosodic features that serves as carriers
of meaning; ways by which information may be organized, related, and
delivered orally; and parallel structures and cohesive devises in presenting
information.
B. Performance The learner transfer learning by composing and delivering an informative
Standard: speech based on a specific topic of interest keeping in mind the proper and
effective use of parallel structures and cohesive devices and appropriate
prosodic features, stance and behavior.
C. Learning EN8V-Ie-4: Use appropriate strategies in unlocking the meaning of
Competency / unfamiliar words.

A. Reviewing previous Short Quiz about Word Stress and Syllabication

of new lesson to improve your vocabulary and learn new words:
1. Read, read, and read – improve your focus, memory, empathy and
communication skills.
2. Keep a dictionary and thesaurus handy – dictionary explains the
meaning of the word, shows its origin and how it is being used. While
thesaurus contains words that can be used in place of another word.
3. Use a journal.
4. Learn a word a day.
5. Go back to your roots – means you are going to identify or to look for
the words origin or where does the word come from. Is it from the
French, Greeks, or Latin? And many more.
6. Play some games like Scrabble, Word Search and many others
7. Engage in conversations.
D. Discussing new Preliminary Activity: Unscramble Game (5 minutes)
