Domain Architect – Cargo & Freight

engineering projects undertaken in Australia for decades, Western Sydney International Airport will open in

About the Opportunity


Reporting to the Manager Strategy and Architecture, this position is a key role in the provision of technology
support to the cargo and freight division, ensuring the optimisation of leading-edge technologies driving
automation and efficiency. This role will encompass the full project and delivery lifecycle of assisting to
establish the “Business” but also all of the associated technology required to support day one operations,
and a forward plan/ roadmap of possible future enhancements.
Key responsibilities include:
➢ Establishment of a Domain architecture for the cargo and freight division in conjunction with existing
domains.
➢ Design a roadmap of a cargo and freight area from a timeline and cost perspective managing
potential risks.
➢ Key contributor (for technology) for any and all go to market activities i.e. EOI, RFT's and
evaluations.
➢ Governance and oversite the design, build and deployment of the facility once agreed.
➢ Utilise the broader technology team to support cargo and freight design processes.
➢ Evaluating the feasibility of new, leading edge technologies to drive an automated, efficient
information flow across cargo and freight.
➢ Enhance the Enterprise Architecture repository through the capture and documentation of
infrastructure standards, reference architectures and design patterns.
➢ Guide on the effective use of infrastructure technologies in order to achieve business outcomes in
alignment with the Enterprise Architecture and design principles.
➢ Provide technical leadership across multiple projects, including coordination with internal staff and
multiple external vendors.
➢ Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and support delivery outcomes.
➢ Understand the processes, why they apply and where they should be modernised and streamlined.
➢ Provide strong technical leadership and negotiate outcomes with technical stakeholders.
➢ Communicate clearly and effectively with people from technical, business and senior managerial
backgrounds, including the ability to translate technical information into business language.
➢ Provide thought and technical leadership.
Ability to work with network staff and understand the interrelationships and impacts between
systems/applications

About You
We’d like to hear from you if you have the following:
• 7+ years of proven experience working on large-scale and technically challenging infrastructure
projects, preferably in a greenfield environment, including analysis, solution design/build and
implementation into a working Business as Usual environment
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience across technologies related to Cargo and Freight such as
material handling systems, warehouse management systems or cargo booking/handling systems at
international and domestic airports.
• Proven solution design experience across the Cargo and Freight domain.
• Strong understanding of the Cargo and Freight business (business models, value chains, business
processes).

• Significant experience in design and implementation of enterprise solutions in a large scale and
diverse environment with a focus on stakeholder groups, including the end users.
• High level of solution design and management skills in complex organisations plus ability to document
and assess risks and impacts.
• Extensive experience in project management methodologies, tools and structure and an ability to
adapt to a constantly changing environment.
• Significant experience in systems and applications architecture design and implementation as part of
an end-to-end solution.
• Proven experience in a commercial and multi-vendor environment.
• TOGAF certified or experience with Architecture frameworks.
• Experience with cloud systems deployment including public & private cloud and hybrid deployments
• Extensive experience working with strategic partners with a view to achieve overall targets.
