• Summarize your answers in the box below. Then, share it to the class.

Awareness of the terms regarding our identity is a way for us to understand ourselves.
Without them, we would be confused, and some would feel peculiar. When we know where we
belong, we can develop ourselves better and thus, have better lives. It can also help us to decide
what career we will take in the future. But sometimes, there’s conflict when we apply these terms.
Many people don’t agree, and in some countries, they prohibit such an act. Some religions also
condemn such an action. For some people, it is hard for them to adjust because they adhere to what
society says, some also decided to just live with themselves not being controlled by society. For
some who live in a community that is strict with gender roles, it is bad for them when they feel
differently since their environment is not compatible with themselves. It can result in mental illness
for some, and others would be abused. Gender roles are good when you live in an understanding
community, that is when a variety of gender roles is accepted in a community. It’ll be easier for them
since they wouldn’t be judged by how they act, for that reason, they can act freely as they want.

As for me and my partner, we have never felt that our sex, sexual orientation, gender
identity, and gender expression conflict with one another. We lived a life congruent to how we were
born. Some of our friends lived gay for a while but then turns out to be straight. Some people we
thought were straight turned out to be gay. As for us, we lived consistently.
