What’s your motivation for this study?/What's the research
problem?/How will this study contribute to the body of knowledge?/What
Our topic explores the e cacy of Garlic (Allium sativum) and Green Chili (Capsicum annuum)
as organic insecticides to Sugarcane (Saccharum O cinarum), one of the principal drivers of
Philippine economy, in Philippine climate. Our study can increase the e ciency and safeness
of sugarcane farming, resulting in the betterment of our economy.
Our motivation for this study is driven by the need to develop sustainable pest management
options for sugarcane crops. We aim to explore the e ectiveness of natural insecticides, such
as garlic and green chili extracts, in order to minimize the environmental impact of
conventional synthetic pesticides and promote long-term agricultural sustainability.
2. In a few sentences, are you able to tell us what your study is all about?
Our topic is about making e ective insecticides using organic ingredients, specifically, Garlic
(Allium sativum) and Green Chilli (Capsicum annuum) Extracts.
3. How is your study relevant to the issues of today?
By providing an alternative to commercial insecticides filled with chemicals, we are
contributing to the reduction of soil pollution thereby preventing detrimental e ects to plant
growth and disruption of food chains and ecosystems. Not only that, by using an organic
insecticide, we ensure that the crops are safe and healthy to consume.
4. Why did you choose Garlic and Green Chili as main variables of your
insecticide?
5. What type of background research have you done for the study?
In our typical background study for this type of research, we conducted a thorough review of
relevant scientific literature, examining past studies on natural pesticides, organic pest
control methods, and the specific impacts of garlic and green chili extracts on pests and plant
growth.
6. How did you relate your study to the existing theories in the literature?
