6. Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will demonstrate competency by being able to:
1. The student will have the ability to analyze complex linear systems (single and multivariable,
external and internal representation). This includes their stability, controller design and
evaluation of closed loop response.
2. Apply mathematical/analytical skills, to analyze system designs using root-locus, frequency
response, and state-space methods.
3. Ability to design controllers for linear discrete-time control systems so that their performance
meets specified design criteria.
4. Knowledge and understanding to provide a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and
applying control concepts in the context of research.
5. The student will be able to use modern analytical tools, test equipment and computer aided design
to assemble different types of control systems and measure performance.
