Density is a measure of how heavy something is.

1. Sink and float

Concept: If an object is more dense than water it will sink when placed in water, and if
it is less dense than water it will float.

a. The coin (sinks/floats) in water because it is (more/less) dense than water.

b. The balloon (sinks/floats) on water because it is (more/less) dense than water.

2. Which liquid has greatest density? Water, soap or oil?

Concept: Any liquid that has a higher density than water will sink whereas substances
with a lower density than that will float.

1. How does salt change the density?

Concept: when salt is added to water its density becomes greater
