Answer the following questions:

. Study the relationship of each department of government. Understand the following:

1. What is the role of the President, the Congress and the Judiciary in these 2
videos?

Answer:
The Executive branch is composed of the President and the Vice President who are
elected by direct popular vote and serve a term of six years. The Constitution grants the
President authority to appoint his Cabinet. These departments form a large portion of
the country’s bureaucracy.

The Legislative branch is authorized to make laws, alter, and repeal them through the
power vested in the Philippine Congress. This institution is divided into the Senate and
the House of Representatives.

The Judicial branch holds the power to settle controversies involving rights that are
legally demandable and enforceable. This branch determines whether or not there has
been a grave abuse of discretion amounting to lack or excess of jurisdiction on the part
and instrumentality of the government. It is made up of a Supreme Court and lower
courts. The Constitution expressly grants the Supreme Court the power of Judicial
Review as the power to declare a treaty, international or executive agreement, law,
presidential decree, proclamation, order, instruction, ordinance or regulation
unconstitutional.

2. Based on these two videos, do you think that we still have one man rule?

Relation ng Presidente at Kongreso:

Relasyon ng Kongreso at Hudikatura:

Answer: Based on the video, I notice that there is no one man rule in the talks they
discussed because everyone is doing their constitutional duty, especially the president.
the result was this because of the proper amendment of the 1987 Constitution that
avoids the one man rule policy.

3. The Church and the State: can the church interfere on governance of the country?

Answer: “The Church should not interfere in politics since the Constitution provides for
the separation of Church and state.” This is usually the reaction every time bishops,
priests, and religious denounce extrajudicial killings, human rights abuses, corruption,
anti-poor economic policies, etc. Separation helps to prevent government from
promoting one religion or one sect over the others. That really helps protect religious
pluralism so that government can't impose one religion on everyone.

4. In these videos, is it good to make the Church part of the decision-making

process of the government? Video 1. https://youtu.be/Sq_VmLf1SJk Video 2.

Answer: In my opinion, they can be involved in matters that they know are forbidden in
the church, but it will still be as a suggestion and there will be a debate or final decision
between the government and the church, but it is also said in the constitution that there
is no the church rules the government so the decision will still be made by the
government and the people.
