UNICEF Côte d'Ivoire must place the issues that the most marginalized and excluded
children in Côte d'Ivoire continually and strategically face on the international stage, in
national dialogue and at the heart of public and political opinion. ! agenda; bringing issues to

d'Ivoire. With regard to the evolving upstream role of UNICEF in the country program
(advocacy and policy dialogue, resource mobilization, etc.) and the increased role that public

To support the activities of the UNICEF Côte d'Ivoire office, we are recruiting consultants to
provide visual documentation in original digital format on a) UNICEF Côte d'Ivoire's
programs (communication, child development, including Wash, Nutrition, Health, Protection
and Education); b) high-level visits; c) official photos of key spokespersons and staff to
produce communication and advocacy materials for use by UNICEF internal and external
partners on various platforms.

How can you make a difference?

The consultant will be required to:

• High profile visits and events – professional UNICEF photojournalism/documentary


coverage during visits.
• Program coverage – professional photojournalistic/documentary coverage of UNICEF-
supported programs as well as general advocacy on the subject. Coverage may include
documentation of the program response as well as documentation of the situation that
demonstrates the need for an intervention. To be distributed via WeShare and Sharepoint to
UNICEF internally, UNICEF National Committees and other internal and external partners
such as media, NGOs and UN partners. history through a person's life and experiences. Make
sure there are enough details about their life to make it relevant. Emotional content
resonates well with audiences and encourages sharing. When possible,
• Social media: – production of photos and videos for the social media calendar, including key
events, national and international days, etc.
• Videos: Production of videos of program interventions for internal distribution to UNICEF,
donors, UNICEF National Committees and other internal and external partners.

Responsibilities of the consultant:

The Consultant provides all photographic material and agrees to provide, upon request,
transmissions of edited raw selections of the best images, with full caption information. The
videos will be edited by the consultant and, if necessary, re-edited until they are approved by
the multimedia specialist and the communication manager.
At the end of the mission, the overall editing will be transferred electronically to the
Multimedia Specialist and the Communication Officer at UNICEF Côte d'Ivoire.

UNICEF responsibilities:

UNICEF has first selection rights to all originals taken under this assignment, as well as
concurrent non-exclusive worldwide rights in all media, in perpetuity. UNICEF's copyright in
the images provides a secure legal basis (national and international) to promote the
appropriate portrayal of children in all media. In this way, copyright law complements the
broader principles of the CRC, including the child's right to privacy, protection and a
respectful image.

Remedies by UNICEF for Unsatisfactory Performance. Payment will only be made for work
satisfactorily completed and accepted by UNICEF.

Payments will be made on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The number of days is discussed
beforehand with the consultant for each mission. The same applies to the number of photos
and/or videos to be provided. The intensity of each mission will determine the number of
days. Days will also be allocated to the consultant for post-production and the delivery date
will be determined for each assignment.

Deliverable

• Multimedia, photo and video documentation. Photos and videos will be produced and
edited with the consultant's equipment.
• Descriptive captions for all wide-montage photos, quotes from central characters/subjects in
the photo cover serving to tell a first-person narrative story; quotes of a more personal
nature taken from characters/photo story subjects speaking directly to the camera with
their gaze.
• Transmission of a wide range of photographs with specifications including photo format,
transmission, captioning, etc.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you have...

• Be a photo/video professional with a university degree in photography, communications or


journalism or at least 5 years of professional experience as a photographer/videographer.
• Experience working with children is recommended.
• Significant and proven experience with the following software and platforms: Microsoft
Office, Adobe suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, PDF), Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro,
Photomechanic, or any other software relevant to the role.
• Skills in writing general interest articles and captions in English are required.

(daily, weekly and monthly fees)

Remarks :

Without the four documents listed above, your application will be considered incomplete and
invalid and will not be considered.

Any attempt to improperly influence UNICEF's selection process will result in automatic
disqualification. Joint applications of two or more people will not be accepted.

Please note that UNICEF does not charge any fees at any stage of the process.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff
members” under the UN Staff Regulations and Rules and UNICEF policies and procedures. ,
and will not be entitled to any benefits provided therein (such as time off and medical
insurance coverage). Their terms of service will be governed by their contract and the
General Conditions of Contracts for Consultant and Individual Services. Consultants and
individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax obligations and paying any
taxes and/or duties, in accordance with applicable local or other laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible for ensuring that the visa (applicable) and health
insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire duration of the
contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against
SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization
(WHO), which must be satisfied before commencing the assignment. It does not apply to
consultants who will be working remotely and are not expected to work or visit UNICEF
premises, program delivery locations or interact directly with the communities with which
UNICEF works, nor travel to perform functions for UNICEF during the term of their
consultancy contracts.
