SAN ANDREAS

The movie is about the earthquake caused by San Andreas Fault

devastating the San Francisco, California. It’s an interesting movie but the
effect of the earthquake is a little bit destructive which we do not want to
happen.

The first thing I notice is the group of people trying to predict the
earthquake. There is also a scene where one of them said that the Richter scale
or he uses the term Richter Magnitude to address the magnitude of the
earthquake. Richter is used for local magnitude, for small type of earthquakes.
The moment magnitude scale is used to measure large earthquakes.

Also, predicting the exact time, date and place where an earthquake will
occur is still not on the field of science and technology but maybe, using the
past data, event and knowledge on the faults, predicting an earthquake may be
done by probabilistic forecast using those observation.

I think that the movie is fun but the destructions shown in the film are
exaggerated. But I think it is better to prepare for the worst scenario because
whether we like it or not, earthquake can happen anytime, because it will. So it
is better to be prepared and planned, from ourselves, to our family, to our
community and to government level. It is very important to have an emergency
plan and being prepared and maybe that’s the whole point of the movie.
