Abstract

1. Introduction

It has been three years since we faced one of the most difficult battles in our lives as a

human on Corona Virus Disease 2019 Pandemic. March 15, 2019 when President Rodrigo

Duterte ordered a lockdown of the entire Metro Manila and as a result, many job were lost and

establishments were forced to close including the school around the Philippines. Senior High

School Students at Pulong Buhangin National High School have been affected by the pandemic

when the economy started to sink. Many different businesses have closed down, gone bankrupt,

because they are affected by the pandemic and many have also lost their jobs or at least little

income due to the strictness for safety , But there are many people who have found an

opportunity to earn money, to start something even just inside the house to help their family

financially.

Digital technology is one of the reasons why business ideas are expanding. Digital systems such

as mobile, desktop devices and networks are transforming. The digital platform support new

ways of collaborating and communicating without the need to leave the comfort of their homes.

In modern economy, digital business is used more often than ever because of its convenience to

the seller and buyer. Because of this students are having an interest to the online market at a

young age.

Online sellers during and after the pandemic has increased tremendously, the usage of online

platforms have been popular even among the students of Pulong Buhangin National High

School. This study aims to know if the selected students have a change of attitude towards

education while thriving to earn money online.

1.1 Background of the Study

Technology has changed the way people interact and conduct business. It has become a

part of everyday life. The role of technology in the business world will only continue to expand.

Digital technologies has became an integral part of any modern human beings routine. According

to eMarketer from Draper (2022) article, ecommerce sales rose 16.4% in 2013 over the previous

year to 263.3 billion dollars and is estimated to climb to 440 billion dollars by 2017. Shoppers

are more than happy to stay home and complete their purchase online

According to Tabuena et al., (2022) The primary aim of Digital Transformation is to solve

challenges concerning efficiency and effectiveness of traditional businesses. Digital marketing

has surpassed traditional marketing. This affect the digital marketing skills gap. Internet ads are

getting more widespread. Firms perceptions of the value of digital marketing can be classified.

An integrated approach is required to meet client needs using digital marketing channels. To

succeed in this new market, businesses must first understand their client’s lifestyles. Digital

marketing has evolved into an inter advertising platform for small business owners, despite a

lack of funds to update technology and harness internet development. Advertising on social

media is attracting the attention of digital marketers. Because of the potential market share gains

that social media marketing could give for internet marketers. Shrutika Mishra (2018) Digital

platforms are the new generation of business platforms.

The researchers aims to determine whether the Senior High School Students of Pulong Buhangin

National High School that does digital business/online selling affects their educational attitude

towards school learning. They may be a question of being out of focus and not being tentative

inside the learning environment. It is important that we address this now than never to help

students with their studies

1.2 Statement of the Problem

The main objective of this study is to investigate the effects of digital business to the

educational attitude that may affect the learnings of selected senior high students in Pulong

Buhangin National High School. This study will look into the relationship between respondents

year started business and age.

Specifically, this paper will seek answers to the following questions;

1. What is the demographic profile of selected senior high school students in terms of:

1.1. age

1.2. gender

2. What are the effects of online selling to grade 12 students in terms of :

2.1 Attitude towards education.

4. Is there a significant relationship between digital business and the degree in educational

attitude of the respondents?

2. Methodology

This study will be conducted on a Quantitative Research Design to gather numerical data. Quasi-

Experimental method design is used to accomodate the purpose of this study, to establish the

cause-and-effect relationship of the two variables. Quasi-experiment does not use a randomized

sample therefore it is the proper method to help the data gathering process. The participants are

selected intentionally for the purpose of the study. Non-Equivalent group design is used to

compare two groups who have taken intervention and those who do not. Non-probability

sampling is used, specifically the purposive sampling. That being the case, the method

mentioned is useful for the research process. Conducted at Pulong Buhangin National High

School, Sta. Maria, Bulacan. The respondents are atleast 100 Senior High Students or more. The

participants of this study are the selected senior high school students of Pulong Buhangin

National High School, Sta. Maria, Bulacan. The researchers chose these particular participants in

senior high school age may vary within 17 – 25 years old for which according to (The 2022

Investopedia Financial Literacy Survey) Generation Z adults are more financially sophisticated

than any previous generation was at their age.
