2.0 REFLECTION ON THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND ISSUE
2.1 REFLECTION ON ISSUE
It's important to learn what the five Rs are to understand their importance. The five
Rs refer to a process used by businesses to make the outcome of their recycling programs
better by reducing the amount of waste the company produces. They include reducing,
reusing, rethinking, repairing, and recycling. In the 5 R's hierarchy, remember to treat
recycling as a last resort after attempting to reduce, reuse, rethink, or repair.
This step is extremely beneficial to the end goal of the process. Reduce refers to the
reduction of harmful, wasteful, and non-recyclable materials so you can save more money,
which also benefits the environment. Reducing dependency on these kinds of products
results in fewer waste materials ending up in landfills and the associated negative
environmental impacts. We recommend always using the minimum amount required to
avoid unnecessary waste. For example, when printing a document, print double-sided to cut
your waste output in half. Other commonly used items businesses can focus on reducing
include single-use plastics, plastic packaging, organic waste, and Styrofoam cups. When
you limit the use of these materials, you are making for a more sustainable future.
The reuse step refers to the diligent reuse of any materials. The problem is that this
feeling of convenience in the moment leads to a constant habit. It is becoming a crisis
because the number of plastic products that are being consumed is to a level that’s becoming
unsustainable. To reduce waste, reuse items throughout the workplace instead of buying
new ones. Begin by focusing on one area of your business at a time, like the break room.
Replace all of the single-use eating utensils, Styrofoam cups, water bottles, and paper plates
with compostable or reusable alternatives. Once you master one area, prioritize reuse for
other products in your facilities like packaging peanuts, printer cartridges, cardboard boxes,
food containers, and rechargeable batteries.
You can rethink the waste you produce by using alternative products and considering
how you can further reduce your environmental footprint. However, it is not enough just to
put recyclables in the bin. You must rethink what you can do to root out unnecessary
wastefulness. For example, bring your bag to the store to avoid receiving a single-use plastic
bag when you shop. You can also look for recycled content in products you make purchases.
5
You can start to practice rethinking at any time particularly when you purchase and discard
items. Minimizing the amount of waste you create can bring about a more sustainable
environment for future generations. Rethink before throwing away an item you think is
broken, worn out, or is no longer wanted.
These days, we find it easier to buy a new product than to repair and use an existing
product. This is especially true of electronic goods like mobile phones and domestic
appliances, which can last a long time if repaired when necessary. Reducing, reusing, and
recycling, decrease both the demands on natural resources, as well as the rate at which they
are consumed. Fewer resources are used and supplies that are limited are conserved. In
addition, less waste is generated, thereby reducing the amount of trash that must be
landfilled or incinerated. As the amount of trash buried or burned decreases, so too does the
potential for water and air pollution which can occur as a result of burning or improper
disposal of waste. Our world has a limited supply of natural resources, including land used
for landfills. All these techniques help us conserve such natural resources.
Lastly, recycle. Once you've gone through all of the other R's, recycling is the most
environmentally friendly waste disposal method. If you absolutely cannot do something else
with your stuff, find a way to recycle it. For instance, buy in bulk to eliminate excess
packaging that needs to be recycled. Recycling is a better option than throwing something
away, but there’s a reason it isn’t listed first. It still takes energy to recycle an item and it
has to be transported to and from the facility that recycles it. Items also have to be reasonably
clean to be recycled, and not only will contaminated items not be recycled, but they can also
prevent the items around them from being recycled. Such as recycling a clean, plastic
container that is no longer able to be used for anything else because it is broken.

2.2 REFLECTION ON PROJECT MANAGEMENT
2.2.1 CHALLENGES
1. Hard to find people to participate in our event
When the event of 5R campaign for green earth begins, our team will need to face
the challenges to find people to join our program. In the first place we only got less than our
expected. We thought that we could get more participants with this program. So, we decided
to ask our family members and friends to contribute with us. We distribute the event to many
people especially our friends and attract their attention with our palamgogreen’s Instagram.
We do a lot of posting to make sure that everyone is clear with our event. We always keep
an update about our program and we do it early before the closing ceremony. Alhamdulillah,
at the end of the day, we finally managed to get as many people to participate in our program.

2.2.2 BENEFITS
8
3.0 RECOMMENDATION ON BOTH PERSPECTIVES
3.1 RECOMMENDATION ON THE ISSUE
You are familiar with the three Rs and their significance. Less stuff will wind up in the
trash if we reduce the number of things we possess and the quantity of rubbish we produce.
Reusing what we can gives our belongings a new lease of life and keeps them out of the
landfill. Recycling repurposes a wide range of resources, boosting the economy, providing
jobs, and enabling the production of new goods. You may already be familiar with the motto
"reduce, reuse, recycle," but there are a few more Rs which include “rethink, and repair”.
There are few ways that you can apply in everyday life.
9
3.2 RECOMMENDATION ON THE PROGRAM
ii. Invite Virtual Guest Speakers to Engage and Inspire the Community
- We must be thorough in our planning for virtual guest speakers so that they contribute
effectively to our community programme. With careful planning, we may pick a speaker
and enable an experience that resonates with and satisfies the program's objectives. We may
learn about other experiences and perspectives by inviting virtual guest speakers from our
global community. As a result, it assists the audience in gaining wider and broader views on
the long-term value of the 5R campaign. This broad viewpoint can aid in the development
of better understanding and empathy for our home planet.
- For example, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, the founder and President of EcoKnights, a non-
governmental environmental organization whose founder is also a biologist by profession
and an environmentalist by passion, could be invited. Besides that, we may also invite an
influencer or artist like Maya Karin, who is known as the "Green Queen," who will attract
younger generations to join this program.
10
iii. Time management of the event
- During the Closing Ceremony of 5R Campaign for Green Earth, we discovered that the
event ended sooner than planned. This demonstrates a lack of event time management.
Hence, it is critical for the event moderator to make excellent use of the time allotted. If the
event finishes earlier than intended, a backup plan should be prepared.
- Extra activities, such as Q&A sessions with the audience or exchanging experiences with
the public, can be planned by the committee. This will allow us to become more socially
engaged. Furthermore, in the event of unforeseen setbacks, the committee may also share a
documentary video on the campaign as an extra activity.

4.0 CONCLUSION
Some of the benefits include raising public awareness about the importance of
environmental protection. It also brings connection through community involvement. This
is because, in order to ensure the success of this event, we must reach out to community
experts, volunteers, and local institutions to support bringing the community together to
educate and address environmental issues. As a result, it fosters a positive relationship with
the community, despite the fact that doing so via an online platform is extremely
challenging. In addition, this event encourages participants to express their unique talents
and abilities by creating the most creative short videos in order to win grand prizes.
Further to that, this event also provides many benefits to us, such as encouraging us
to work as a team and form strong bonds with one another, as well as making wonderful
memories together. Additionally, it improves our critical and creative thinking, as well as
our ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently. Handling an event is never easy,
especially when using an online platform as there are countless challenges to overcome in
order to ensure that everything goes as planned. Every challenge teaches us a valuable
lesson, and it was an unforgettable experience that brought a lot of joy and happiness to us.
Finally, we hope that there will be another opportunity for us to organize Earth-related
events and raise awareness about Earth in the future.
