Here is an overview of the learning we would like you to complete this coming week. Whilst it is set out on specific days, with Zoom sessions to introduce each lesson, if
your daughter is unable to attend, the lesson will be recorded, and work can be completed at a separate time. If you have any general questions, please contact your
daughter’s form teacher via email during normal school hours. If you have a subject specific question, please email your daughter’s subject teacher.

FIRST DAY BACK AND REMOTE LEARNING TO BEGIN


9am Form Time: Mrs Alexander 3A; Miss Malcolm 3M
We will use this time as a welcome back and also to spend time becoming more familiar with Teams. We will look at how to access assignments; how to upload work;
how to use the Chat function and find important messages on the Posts section. We will also discuss expectations for Remote Learning both in terms of work and
behaviour.

After the assembly, you will have time to prepare for the afternoon lessons and have a look around Teams. If you need to ask any questions, please use the chat
function on Teams when possible; if not, then send an email.
1:30pm Maths: Mrs Alexander
LO – to build on understanding of calculating using short multiplication via the hybrid method
Starter activity: rapid recall of times tables facts. PLEASE HAVE YOUR WHITEBOARDS AND PENS READY. YOU WILL ALSO NEED YOUR PLACE VALUE SLIDER.

Main activity: Recap/revise/introduce: Use the hybrid method to show the link with the grid method and short multiplication. Use the correct language of exchange and what is being
multiplied. Begin with TO x O; extend to HTO then ThHTO

LO- to present the idea of a miracle and to discuss views on this

We will introduce the idea that sometimes we can get poorly and then consider how do we get better? How do we heal? We will also consider also how emotions heal. How can we
explain getting better? We will then look at ideas from the Bible where people were healed by the work of Jesus.
3:15pm English: Miss Malcolm
Spelling High Frequency Words using whiteboards and pens. We will be learning and looking at ways of spelling HFW, concentrating on ‘Silly sentences’ (mnemonics) that we can use to
help us remember them e.g. because, said, who, where, could, should, would, does, every. Practise spelling these words and making our own silly sentences or learning the teachers.
Video links may be sent out for the girls to watch if they wish at the end of the lesson. Extra: If you wish to on a blank piece of paper you can make your own poster for one silly sentence
as shown or on the computer (word or PPT preferred). Teams Assignment will be given for this to be handed in.

LO: To write a recount of your Christmas holiday.

We will have a group discussion about what we did over the Christmas holidays. This is a speaking and listening opportunity and girls will take turns. Teacher to then show an example of
her own written recount, highlighting the use of paragraphs, WOW words and punctuation. Children to then independently write their own recount in your English book. If you would like
to draw a picture at the bottom of the page (if able) then you can. Teams Assignment will be given for this to be handed in.

LO – to develop understanding of short multiplication
Starter activity: Last Girl Standing

Main activity: to look at short multiplication in a compact method and recognise how the process works. Practise together; look at the relationship with the hybrid method. Work
through examples together and independently. Use place value counters to model.
