evenly in all countries in the world and has changed so many aspects of life. The COVID-19
pandemic which has resulted in crises in various parts of the world brings challenges to countries

development goals proclaimed by the United Nations.

In a virtual discussion event held by the Directorate General of Multilateral Cooperation

of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Director of Development, Economy and
Environment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Agustaviano Sofjan, said the pandemic had
pushed countries back in achieving the 17 goals set out in the SDGs. The challenges faced due to
the COVID-19 pandemic include the three pillars of the SDGs, the economic, social, and
environmental pillars. According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the stability and
growth of supply and demand, as well as people's livelihoods. In addition, this coronavirus poses
a great risk to women, children, the elderly, and informal workers. "On the other hand, the
pandemic has a positive impact on the environment due to reduced emissions due to economic
activities (The Jakarta Post, 2020).

According to the Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources of the Ministry of
National Development Planning/Bappenas Arifin Rudiyanto, in Facing changes due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas has prepared a
draft National Action Plan (RAN) 2020–2024 which includes actions to achieve SDGs goals
after the Covid-19 pandemic. Not only that, the Ministry of National Development
Planning/Bappenas has prepared a short, medium, dan long-term solution to implement the
SDGs (Bappenas, 2020). According to President Jokowi, the government should not lower
Indonesia's SDG targets but must seek breakthroughs or innovations so that Indonesia can
achieve these targets. In this case, the government can work together with researchers,
academics, and institutions to achieve the SDGs targets. According to him, they have their
respective advantages to help the government achieve the targets set (CNN Indonesia, 2020).

With the COVID-19 pandemic, let us all take our respective roles in supporting the
achievement of the SDGs during this COVID-19 pandemic.
