Teaching Strategies in Teaching Literature: Students in Focus

This research entitled, “Teaching Strategies in Teaching Literature: Students in Focus”

was conducted by the great researchers in the University of Mindanao - Matina
Campus. It is such an overwhelming study and has definitely fruitful lessons and
recommendations that us, student teachers, can use in our near future endeavors. The
researchers conducted the study to determine the different teaching strategies of the
teachers when they are teaching literature, and the impressions of the students towards
the use of those strategies. As an English major student, and somehow who will also
be teaching literature, it is important to have some insights or visions about the what
we will be doing in the near future, and the strategies to use to be an effective and
efficient teacher, especially that our students are diverse, they are different from each
other. Their knowledge and skills aren’t the same, so it is very necessary to have a
strategy when it comes to teaching so everybody can cope up with our lesson. That is
why, this research revealed that teaching strategies were used to address the different
learning skills of the students. They suggested that innovations of the existing
effective teaching strategies must be enhanced to achieve desired learning outcomes
among the learners. Just like revising the syllabus to respond to the learning needs of
the students. Because as the world evolves, the needs of the students are also evolving.
So, we need to adapt to the changing needs of our world to be an effective teacher.
We can make them appreciate learning if we can also appreciate and make some
adjustments for them. We must prioritize the things that will make them learn more.
We must choose an appropriate strategy to employ in their class discussion to
guarantee that the students will have literary appreciation.
