Garter Tab Cast-On: Using the backwards loop method,

garter ridge), rotate work 90 degrees, pick up and k2 sts in
cast-on edge. 9 sts

INCREASE SECTION
Note: From here onward the 2 edge sts at each end are
always worked in garter stitch (knit on both RS and WS),
the central ‘spine’ stitch is worked as k1tbl on RS rows and
p1 on WS rows, and the stitches in between the markers on
either side are worked in a lace pattern set on a stocking
stitch / stockinette background.
